Online gamblers may well know the 'Titan' brand from the Titan Poker room that has been operating successfully for a number of years. Indeed the owners of Titan own a number of casinos and poker rooms including Europa Club and Casino Tropez amongst others. And yet having played at pretty much all of these Titan Casino is one that had managed to stay off our radar – until now that is! Realising this was a casino that had not yet come under the scrutiny of online-casinos.com we decided to have a visit and once again write about our experiences.
As with all the properties managed by Imperial E-Club (the owners of this casino), Titan runs on the Playtech platform meaning members can play the casino games either via a no-download interface or via a download one. Regular readers will know I also suggest going for the download version as it offers the best quality and selection of games. Although having said that the no-download version is perfectly good to play, particularly if you are on a slow connections or are just in a hurry to have a quick game.
As with most casinos, the download and installation procedure has been made as simple as possible and within a few minutes the small piece of installation software had done its thing and I was presented with the casino log-in screen. Of course, being new at Titan I had to firstly create an account but again this is made easy with a simple form being used to capture a new player's details. I opted to create an account denominated in UK pounds although a number of other currencies are available including Euros and Dollars. However, despite Dollars being accepted US players should note that unfortunately they are forbidden to play here.
One of the first things that hit me about Titan is the bonus system in place to keep players happy. In fact, a mix of initial sign-up, on-going monthly and on-going weekly match bonuses means a player can get up to 4000 free credits to play with! Of course, wagering requirements are attached to these but for those that like to play with more than they have in their bank accounts Titan could well be of interest. In fact, I also received a promotion a couple of weeks after signing up offering me a further 100%+£25 on any deposit – you really do have to go some way to better this at other online casinos!
However, ironically this desire to keep players happy could also become an annoyance to some people. The reason I say this is because every time I logged in to the casino a live chat representative immediately started speaking to me welcoming me to that session and trying to get my to deposit. Although I can see this shows a personal touch, I also felt slightly that I was being hounded to deposit. I suppose this is purely my interpretation of events but is something I feel I should note.
Nevertheless, this didn't put me off and keen to take advantage of the initial 100% match bonus I headed to the cashier to make a £25 deposit. This was instantly converted in to £50 with the bonus. On this occasion I used NeTeller to make my deposit but Titan offers a number of other e-wallet payment options as well as credit card and bank transfer. Minimum deposits are just £10 which should satisfy those on a budget.
The selection of games available (of which there are well over a hundred) are all accessible from the Titan Casino Lobby and handily a menu system breaks games down by type. And yet despite this choice I still started my session at the blackjack table – I just cannot seem to get enough of that game! Although actually Titan offers a range of 21-type games including Blackjack Switch and a progressive version with an ever-increasing jackpot (won by hitting 4 suited aces).
I chose to play the 5-spot multi-hand Blackjack game and was immediately impressed with the look and feel of the game. High quality graphics are used and the dark-blue hue of the table felt shouts out quality and elegance. Of course, at the end of the day graphics are not the be-all-and-end-all of a game but when coupled with the smoothness of game play on offer at Titan you do start to wonder how online casinos can get much better than this. Of course, virtual casinos will never quite fully capture the essence of a real casino but when you have a plethora of configurability options available to get the casino playing how you want it (disable warnings, change sound options etc.) you start to wonder if online gaming is better than the real thing!
Sadly, despite all of this I still ended up losing some money at the Blackjack table, although of course luck has nothing to do with presentation of a game! Incidentally, all the games at Titan operate using a Random Number Generator that ensures each game acts exactly like its land-based counterpart. In fact, there's even a selection of live dealer games with real cards beamed to players via webcam technology so if you are unsure about playing against a computer, you can have a go at the real thing at this casino.
As well as the Blackjack game I also played at some of the other table games available and found an equally positive gaming experience was to be had. I had a few nice wins at the Roulette wheel and even managed to break even whilst chasing the progressive jackpot at the Caribbean Stud table – this stood at over £20,000 at the time of playing! Incidentally, one thing that struck me throughout my time at the tables was that betting ranges are well suited to the majority of online players – bets can be placed for as little as £1 (even £0.10 roulette table) and can be as high as £300. Since some games allow multiple hands this means up to £1500 (5 x £300) can be bet per hand, a limit that should satisfy all but the biggest of gamblers!
Following on from my table game betting I still had around £40 left so I headed next to the slot selection. Titan has a decent range of slot games ranging from simple three-reel games to multi-line video slots with wild cards, bonus rounds and progressive jackpots. I liked the way Titan breaks slots down by number of pay lines so a player knows the type of game they are loading even before they click. I particularly enjoyed the Forest of Wonders game which has a theme clearly based on the Alice in Wonderland stories. Sadly I didn't win much but the exuberant graphics and fun sound effects kept me clicking away and the jackpot of almost £15,000 was enough to keep me excited!
The Bonus Bears game was also good fun – again the graphics really kept me hooked. In fact, there wasn't really a single slot game I found that I thought was a letdown. Titan have clearly worked hard to ensure they offer a set of games that stand out. Incidentally, I have to write about the Gold Rally slot which at the time of playing had a jackpot available of over £800,000 – imagine hitting that one on your first session!
Sadly though my eagerness to keep playing on the slots meant by the time I came to play on the Video Poker games my bank balance was pretty much zero. Although having checked out the VP selection at Titan there isn't actually too many games to play on. Only a small selection of VP varieties are available (e.g. Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild) and similarly multi-hand games are also very limited (pretty much just a few 4-hand games). These are all fun but I do think Video Poker players may be slightly disappointed by the range of games on offer. Nevertheless, the games that are there are satisfactory and still offer players the chance to win big.
After spending around an hour at the casino my balance hit zero and it was time to stop playing. As such, there was no withdrawal to make on this occasion. However, Titan process withdrawals pretty speedily and after a few days pending withdrawals are processed without problem. Fax back forms may need to be completed but this is becoming more and more common with online casinos.
When it comes to support at Titan this is offered by email, telephone and live chat. However, when I tried the live chat facility no one seemed to response – I guess all the support staff are too busy trying to chat to the new players! The email support is responsive enough though and my message was responded to within a few hours. Similarly, the telephone support is there for really big problems. Generally though, few players should have reason to contact support but it is good to know help is there when needed.
In conclusion I was impressed with my time at Titan Casino. The management have clearly worked hard with the designers to put together a casino that is sophisticated yet fun. A good selection of games is available, although the Video Poker selection is limited. Similarly the games that are available are well presented with a good use of graphics and sound effects making play utterly entertaining. I liked the special features such as the live dealer section and with a huge amount of bonus money on offer it's possible to be playing for hours at Titan. Finance and support both work well although I think support could be slightly more responsive. Generally though there isn't really anything bad to say about Titan. It really comes down now to how you get on luck-wise. I'd certainly say give it a go – maybe it'll become your casino of choice!
