 GTECH to Provide Mobile Betting for Belgium's Lottery

Right on the heels of the recent confirmation that GTECH the interactive gaming software and services provider from Italy had acquired Probability a specialist in mobile gambling technology GTECH has been awarded a contract with the National Lottery of Belgium. The contract will extend for a decade and provide online gaming, systems, terminals and integration to provide end-to-end services for the lottery.

GTECH has become the world's largest operator of lotteries from its headquarters in Rome Italy. This contract will enable GTECH to roll out more accessible mobile games via it new acquisition Probability which was founded in 2003 and has focused entirely on bringing entertainment gambling and real cash gaming into the mobile era.

GTECH’s president of products and services, Renato Ascoli said this very recently about the purchase of Probability, “With the mobile gaming market poised for significant growth over the next several years, we view the acquisition of Probability as a logical stepping stone for advancing our mobile gaming strategy both internationally and in the US,”

GTECH’s obligation to the NLB is to provide various gaming technology, performance-driven systems and an integrated back end business environment. The firm will be upgrading the existing lottery terminals with their Enterprise Series central system and Altura GT100 terminals.

NLB’s ICT, operations and procurement director, Roger Malevé, commented, “This services arrangement with GTECH will allow us to introduce innovations more rapidly and be better prepared in the longer term to grow the business in a competitive marketplace,”

Walter Bugno, president and chief executive officer of GTECH, added: “This award is significant for GTECH as it allows us to build upon the existing relationship with the Belgian National Lottery which dates back to 1993 when we deployed the Lottery’s first gaming system.” Bugno  added, “Working together with the Lottery, we have created customer-focused innovations and new games, and, as a partner, we have gained a deep understanding of the Belgian marketplace as it exists today, and determined what the right path is for the future.”
