Online Gambling Firm Intralot Offers Sports Betting in Kenya

Intralot is a Greek company that supplies integrated gaming, transaction processing systems, game content, sports betting management and Interactive Gaming Services, to regulated gaming concers worldwide. With a presence in 53 countries it is a public listed company on the Athens Stock Exchange employing about 6,880 people.
The announcement that the firm will begin offering sports betting services in Kenya  under the brand name mCHEZA was made at a press briefing at Nairobi Serena Hotel recently. The deal between Intralot and Acumen Communications Limited will last ten years.The brand is focused on creating an interactive platform for football fans to create accounts and predict scores for 277 leagues involved in international football matches. Kenya Betting Control and Licensing Board chairman Wambua Musili said he was optimistic that mCHEZA would create a positive impact in the sports wagering  industry. “We as a regulator would like to create an even playing field for betting firms,” Musili continued,  “We have put measures in place to ensure that the increased competition in the betting industry benefits football fans.”
Acumen Communications Limited is authorized and regulated by the Betting Control and Licencing Board of Kenya under the Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Act. A press conference revealed that mCHEZA and the partners will invest $15m across East Africa over the next three years in order to raise the profile and impact of sports gaming in the region.
Julie Gichuru, Director of Acumen Communications commented on the launch, "Over and above being fun, mCHEZA is nurturing local talent by identifying and sponsoring local sports initiatives that try to uplift the living standards of the marginalized through sport. We are also pleased that this partnership with Intralot will build credibility among our customers by holding high standards in gaming,"  
Vice-President Business Development in Europe and Africa for Intralot, Antonis Markopuolos was enthusiastic about entering the sports betting market in Kenya. Research has revealed there is increased potential for growth of online mobile gaming in Africa. "By investing in this market; we look forward to improving the lives of Kenyans as they connect with their favorite teams," Markopuolos said.
