Betsoft Is Making Moves Into Latin America

In the last week, gaming industry leader Betsoft has made two major business deals, demonstrating how seriously it is planning to expand its Latin American presence. The first of the two deals came in the first week of April, when Betsoft announced a partnership with Rivalo. Shortly thereafter, Betsoft announced another partnership with Latin American operator Salsa Technology. This is just the latest partnership for Salsa Technology, which has been growing its international footprint steadily.

Betsoft and Rivalo: Putting In the Work

Prior to concretizing a deal with gaming operator Rivalo, Malta-based games and software developer Betsoft had to go through the process of passing an ISMS audit, a mandatory step for international operators to secure one of Colombia’s coveted gaming licenses. While Rivalo is not based in Latin America, they have a widely established presence there.

Once Betsoft received their audit approval, the company’s games were made available through Rivalo, a company which works closely with Colombia’s state betting regulator, Coljuegos. In addition to their work with Coljuegos, games played through Rivalo are operated with the assistance of software developed in the UK by company EveryMatrix.

Rivalo is one of only 18 companies which are legally authorized to operate online gambling within Colombia. Colombia only legalized online gambling in 2016, when country officials what became known as the “EGaming Act.” By July of 2017, Colombia’s government issued its first gaming license, given to a branch of Wplay.

Between 2017 and 2019, Colombia authorized an additional 17 licenses, the most recent of which delivered to Grupo Vinnare SAS in February 2019. According to studies, by October 2018, 1.7 million individuals in Colombia had registered online with some iGaming websites, with the number growing all the time.

By January 31, 2019, that number had swelled to more than 2 million iGaming users. Though the number of authorized regulators in Colombia is low, the country’s decision to legalize online gaming has proven to be a great decision: the close of 2019 saw Colombia’s iGaming market growing by 83% from the year before.

“The Latin American market is a hugely exciting opportunity for us; we take new business markets very seriously, hence our commitment to regulation and compliance. We are very pleased to build a successful relationship with a professional and well-respected operator such as Rivalo.”Francesca Raniolo, Sales Executive, Betsoft Gaming

What Is Rivalo?

Rivalo is a company based in Europe with a specialty in sports betting, though they have worked diligently to build a base in Latin America, including in Brazil and Colombia. Like some other companies, Rivalo has elected to have a base office in Bogotà, the large capital district of Colombia.

Though Rivalo is best known for its sports betting options — which include retail and online sports betting — it also offers online games including blackjack and betting, as well as online slots, online roulette, and online bingo. Due to this new deal with Betsoft, Rivalo gamers in Colombia will now be able to access Betsoft’s vast catalog of HTML5 games.

Betsoft and Salsa Technology: A Hot New Deal

The other major announcement for Betsoft is breaking news: a partnership with Salsa Technology, one of the leading games operators in Latin America. If the name sounds new to you, it’s likely because of the new name: until January 2020, Salsa Technology was known for six years as Patagonia Entertainment.

In addition to its work in Latin America, Salsa Technology will also offer Betsoft its client bases in Spain and Portugal. Betsoft sales executive Francesca Raniolo commented via press release that the deal with Salsa Technology came as “another step forward for us in our global strategy.”

Just The Latest International Deal for Salsa Technology

Salsa Technology’s partnership with Betsoft comes on the heels of several back-to-back international partnerships announced by the company earlier this spring. Among these were deals with Gamshy, Zeusplay, and Playson.

Clearly, Betsoft isn’t the only company working to build its international presence! Each of these three companies is located in a different country (Italy, Greece, and Malta), and each have brought their colorful and exciting catalogs of games to Salsa Technology’s wide customer base in Latin America.

As of today, Salsa Technology is most thoroughly established in Latin America, including in hotspots for the gambling market, Colombia and Mexico. Still, higher-ups at the company have made clear that they have global ambitions, and are seeking to expand Salsa Technology’s presence in Europe and Asia in the near future.
