Zitro Digital Partners With Paraguay’s Bplay

Shortly after receiving certification to operate in Colombia, Zitro Digital announced a partnership with Paraguayan online casino Bplay in late February. Earlier in February, Zitro announced that it would be partnering with ORYX Gaming, a B2B and technology solutions provider with much of its operations in Europe. This is not Zitro’s first time striking business in Paraguay: in fact, Zitro’s games are also available at retail casinos around the country.

Zitro Digital and Bplay

In late February, Zitro Digital and Bplay announced a partnership between the companies, meaning that Zitro’s online games would be available to Bplay users in Paraguay. This will include Zitro’s video bingo and digital slots. In a press release, the companies emphasized that new players to Bplay would immediately have access to a special promotional offer.

7 Saltos Resort: The Retail Casino Responsible For Bplay

The Bplay online casino is powered by a retail casino in Paraguay, 7 Saltos Resort. Around the world, it is not an uncommon arrangement for an online casino to be in collaboration with a brick-and-mortar casino, and during COVID-19, this is a savvy business decision, allowing for retail casinos to offset some lockdown-related financial losses with iGaming.

7 Saltos Resort is located on the scenic border between Paraguay and Brazil. According to a press release about the collaboration between Bplay and Zitro Digital, Zitro’s online games are particularly popular in the geographic region between Paraguay and Brazil, so this is likely to be a lucrative deal for both companies.

The Resort Itself

The 7 Saltos Resort casino is located within the 7 Saltos Resort, a 3.5 star hotel located between Paraguay and Brazil. In addition to its retail casino, 7 Saltos Resort has a 24 hour gym, a bar and lounge, and an outdoor tennis court. The resort offers 71 rooms, all with free WiFi available to guests.

Zitro’s Growth In Paraguay

In mid-December, 2020, Zitro announced another partnership with a Paraguayan casino, this time at Casino Premium. This deal did not come with a digital gaming collaboration — rather, the casino chose to install Zitro’s extremely popular progressive multigame, Link King.

Zitro’s Link King Has Gone Global

For years now, Zitro’s progressive multigame Link King has outshone some of its other products, including in the digital realm. The success of Zitro’s Link King has been referred to as iconic for the brand, the kind of popular game that defines an entire generation of ensuing products, not just for Zitro, but for the industry.

Since the release of Link King, the game, which is playable on Zitro’s Illusion and Allure cabinets, has been installed at casinos around the world, with a strong concentration in the Latin American market. In addition to the install at Paraguay’s Casino Premium, this also recently included Uruguay’s Santa Cristina Hotel & Casino.

Zitro’s Focus In Latin America

Like another competitive gambling company Pragmatic Play, Zitro has spent the last year honing a robust presence in Latin America. This was solidified when the company chose to build an additional office in Bogotá, Colombia, which took place months before the company had even been given the green light to operate online gambling in the country.

Though Zitro announced that it would be building an office in Colombia’s capital city, it did not receive a certificate to offer Zitro Digital games in Colombia until a year later. In January 2021, Colombia’s gambling regulators gave Zitro Digital the green light to provide its games to the millions of enthusiastic iGaming users in Colombia.

More International Companies Look To Paraguay

In the grand scheme of the Latin American gambling market, Paraguay often pales in comparison to nearby countries like Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia. Still, some of the biggest names in international gambling have established business in the country, including Play’n GO and Greentube, both of which came to Paraguay in summer 2020.

Greentube In Paraguay

The first of the two companies to announce that it would be building business in Paraguay was NOVOMATIC Interactive’s Greentube, which revealed that it would be partnering with Paraguay’s Il Palazzo casino in late June, 2020. Like the 7 Saltos Resort, Il Palazzo operates an online casino, where Greentube’s virtual games would be made available.

Play’n GO Follows Suit With The Same Casino

Less than two months later, leading games developer Play’n GO struck a deal with the exact same casino, Il Palazzo. Like Greentube, Play’n GO’s gaming content was made available via Il Palazzo’s online casino offering. As such, it is a demonstrable trend that games developers are choosing to concentrate efforts in Paraguay’s online market.

Issues Arise In Paraguay Bridge Project

In late February, reports came from Paraguayan officials that a proposed bridge project linking Paraguay’s capital city, Asuncion, with regions in Paraguay’s hinterlands, was hitting a snag. As of late February, concerns were beginning to surface that the project would cost much more than was originally anticipated, possibly delaying the works further.

That’s Not All: A Surge In COVID-19 Infections

This worrisome news came as officials in Paraguay began efforts to vaccinate its citizens against the novel respiratory infection known as COVID-19. Like many other Latin American countries, Paraguay is largely using Russia’s new COVID-19 vaccine, known as Sputnik V. The wave of vaccinations dovetailed with a spike in COVID-19 infections in Paraguay.
