UK’s Number One Ranked Poker Star Still Going Strong

British poker star Stephen Chidwick became the number one ranked poker player in the world in April, and now he stands in second place at the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl in Las Vegas.

The Kent native is one of 48 players in the event at the ARIA Resort & Casino, which created a $58,500,000 prize pool to be shared amongst the seven highest finishers. The victor receives $5 million and a minimum of $600,000 will be awarded to the seventh-place finisher.

Deal resident Chidwick has already easily surpassed his previous best year on the professional poker circuit in terms of cash finishes, winning almost six million dollars during the first five months of 2018. Just last week he won $300,000 at the $25,000 buy-in event in the same casino.

He also finished as runner-up in the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Grand Final in Barcelona to net €101,000, and a cool €1 million after a third-place finish in the €10,300 buy-in main event.

The Global Poker Index now ranks him as the number one player in the world, although two other players, Jason Koon and Justin Bonomo have netted more cash. Chidwick stands a chance of breaking into the top 20 all-time money listing if he finishes third or better in the Super High Roller Bowl.

Today I became the #1 ranked poker player in the world…anyone close to me knows how long this has been a goal of mine and to finally get there is a great feeling. I owe a lot to the family, friends, study partners, investors whose unwavering support and belief pushed me to never give up and keep chasing my dreams.Stephen Chidwick, poker player

The third day of the 2018 Super High Roller bowl continues tomorrow, and British eyes will be focused to see if Chidwick can break new ground for the British poker scene.
