BetMGM to Gain Access to NYRA’s Horse Racing App

The major casino operator BetMGM has announced that it has struck a partnership deal with the state of New York’s Racing Association’s online betting platform, commonly referred to as NYRA Bets. This move marks a symbolic milestone for BetMGM, as NYRA Bets will be the operator’s first-ever horse racing partner in the United States.

The New York Racing Association’s NYRA Bets service is currently available across 30 US states, as well as at over 200 horse racing tracks across the globe. As part of the nascent partnership between the two, BetMGM is set to receive access to NYRA’s horse racing app, allowing customers to place wagers on events ranging from the Kentucky Derby to the Belmont Stakes to the Breeders’ Cup.

BetMGM chief executive Adam Greenblatt took the opportunity to comment on the new partnership: “We’ve found a great partner in NYRA Bets and look forward to working with them to create a thrilling, interactive experience for horse racing fans on BetMGM.”

Meanwhile, NYRA Bets President Tony Allevato highlighted the increasing importance of horse racing in the sports betting industry, emphasizing the operator’s excitement at the prospect of offering horse racing:

“This is the type of partnership that reflects the importance of horse racing within the rapidly evolving sports betting marketplace. BetMGM has consistently led the charge to expand wagering opportunities for their customers, and we are thrilled that our horse racing content will soon be available on their platform.”Tony Allevato, NYRA Bets President, BetMGM Press Release

Partnership Follows BetMGM Deals with Baltimore Ravens

BetMGM is showing few signs of slowing down its affiliate programs in 2021, following new partnership deals with both the Baltimore Ravens and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour — each of which arrived in May 2021.

BetMGM branding and signs will be displayed at the Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium and on the team’s digital media as a result of the partnership. The operator and the team will also collaborate on creating branded content for fans of the Ravens.

Ravens Chief Sales Officer Kevin Rochlitz had the following to share concerning the deal:

“When we began the process of carefully identifying sports betting and digital gaming partners, one of our top priorities was finding unique ways for Ravens fans to further engage with the team. We are excited to partner with BetMGM and look forward to the specialized entertainment experience the company will provide for our fans.”

BetMGM Also Partners with LPGA Golf Tour

Shortly before the announcement of BetMGM’s partnership with NFL team the Baltimore Ravens, the casino and online sportsbook heavy-hitter also landed a multi-year partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), thereby becoming an official betting operator and partner of the LPGA Golf Tour.

LPGA odds will now be featured in BetMGM’s online sportsbook betting menu and so will the men’s PGA Tour, as well as the European Tour. BetMGM now also gains the rights to utilize the PGA’s official tour partner logo when advertising and promoting its sports betting products and services.

BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost cited the operator’s advanced betting technology services when commenting on the LPGA partnership: “We look forward to working with the LPGA and engaging with its fanbase through our market-leading products. BetMGM’s advanced betting technology provides a user-friendly experience for LPGA fans and a myriad of betting options to choose from.”

For its part, Brian Carroll, senior vice president of global media distribution for the LPGA, evoked BetMGM’s leading position in the sports betting and entertainment markets:

“As a leading sports and entertainment company and already a supporter of women’s golf, BetMGM is uniquely positioned to join the LPGA family as an Official Betting Operator. Sports betting and digital gaming are key elements of the future of sports, and BetMGM is on the forefront of both opportunities. We are happy to partner with them as we look to provide more opportunities for our fans to interact with the LPGA and learn about our incredible athletes.”

New York State Set to Legalize Mobile Sports Betting

The imminent launch of legal mobile sports wagering in New York State is sure to benefit BetMGM’s brand-new partnership with the New York Racing Association’s online betting platform.

In late April 2021, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the state’s fiscal 2022 budget, in which provisions covering legal mobile sports betting, including a $25m license fee, and bidding process for potential licensees, were included.

The fiscal bill, however, ended up mostly focusing on helping New Yorkers and the state recover from the hard financial losses experienced as a result of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

One of the highlights in the budget bill related to gambling is that the New York State Gaming Commission will issue a request for proposals to select at least two platform providers to operate sports betting. The winners of these proposals will be granted licenses and will offer at least four betting skins.

“There’s no doubt that our state will bounce back stronger and better than before, and in the interim, it’s critical we support the New Yorkers who helped get us through this crisis and take steps to rebuild an economy that works for all.”Governor Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York State,Press Release

BetMGM Expanding into Michigan

Already one of the United States’ major casino operators, BetMGM continues its expansion across the nation, becoming the state of Michigan’s second online poker operator in late March 2021.

With the launch of the BetMGM Poker offering in Michigan, the operator will join the ranks of primary online poker provider PokerStars, whose Michigan offer is called PokerStars MI.

BetMGM’s foray into Michigan will mean that all BetMGM Poker players in the state will be able to play with one another. This means that any user of BetMGM Poker in Michigan can play against any other player using the website in the same state — regardless of which town or city they are currently located in.
