BetStars Launches News and Stats Site for UK Punters

The sports arm of The Stars Group has unveiled a new multimedia content site aimed at providing sports betting customers with statistical analysis.

The website, entitled BetStars News, will publish features as well as news and insight from expert analysts on a variety of sports. The content is delivered in the form of written articles, graphics and videos.

BetStars News publishes daily articles covering a range of betting markets, including sports, entertainment and politics. Match previews, interviews and articles providing in-depth statistics and data similar to what a lot of BetStars’ competitors do in their blog sections, are also available.

The site is currently only available in the UK but will launch in other regions in the coming months.

Zeno Ossko, Managing Director of BetStar, said: “BetStars News is an exciting development for us that will help our customers hone and improve their sports knowledge through the vast content that the news site will feature.”

Starting with the UK, we plan to roll out BetStars News in many other regions in the coming months, continuing to demonstrate our commitment to enhance BetStars and create a better experience for our customers. Zeno Ossko, Managing Director of BetStar

BetStars News currently features an interview with ex-Newcastle United goalkeeper, Shay Given. It remains to be seen the level of players and ex-professionals BetStars can attract in future. The site also goes big on NFL news and previews, as America’s number one sport continues to rise in popularity in the UK.

Expected Goals (ExG) a relatively new football statistic, is a large focus of the statistical analysis present. ExG has somewhat split the footballing community, with old-school pundits (often referred to ironically as ‘proper football men’) such as Soccer Saturday’s Jeff Stelling criticising it as “the most useless stat in the history of football“. The rise of ExG continues though, as younger data analysts employed by clubs and progressive football writers further incorporate the figures into their reading of the game.

BetStars is the online sports betting brand of The Stars Group, Stars Interactive, which operates the world’s largest online poker room, PokerStars.
