Esports Technologies make a move into the Latin American market with Brazilian Gogawi launch

Gogawi.com is the company’s licensed online gambling platform which was relaunched in March 2021 after some significant updates to its services. The relaunch brought various enhancements to the site, most notably through its new relationships with the payment services solutions companies Apcopay, Astropay, and CoinDirect, all of which offer a greater range of deposit and withdrawal options and faster settlement times.

This move into the Brazilian market follows two very recent launches of the Gogawi.com site in Thailand and Japan, with the platform now available in over 140 jurisdictions. Gogawi is tailored around eSports betting and its Brazilian site will include tournaments and competitions that feature top national teams and players. With this summer’s massive Rio-based Copa America championship just around the corner, Brazilian fans will doubtless be excited to be able to watch matches, see odds and place bets in real time on the platform. Large cash prizes in games such as League of Legends, CO:GO, Dota 2, FIFA 21, and Call of Duty will be available together with tournaments and competitions featuring to teams.

Brazil is the first country Esport Technologies has forayed into in the Latin American market, and the company has good reason to be developing their presence in the region. Roughly 81 million gamers are in Brazil, and the country is set to be the largest eSports betting market in Latin America and one of the largest in the world. In PricewaterhouseCooper’s 19th Global Entertainment Survey, conducted in the wake of the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Brazil came out as Latin America’s leading gaming market. The impact of coronavirus measures saw a significant boom in eSports gaming, and figures suggest the market will continue to grow at a rapid rate – gaming revenue for eSports in the country is predicted to reach $1.17bn by 2023.

“Brazil is on the precipice of becoming an esports betting giant, and as such I am delighted to see Gogawi available to Brazilian esports fans and bettors. Brazilian esports has taken off, with a record-breaking number of people viewing major tournaments and competitions, like the Brazilian League of Legends Championship. With this increase in esports popularity and engagement from fans we are excited to bring an innovative and dynamic layer of engagement to esports competitions in Brazil, giving fans a chance to win big.”Aaron Speach, Esports Technologies CEO, Press Release

Gogawi will be going up against strong competitors in the Brazilian market

Esports Technologies will be hoping that their Gogawi site will be able to stand out from a field which is already relatively crowded. Who will be some of their main competitors?

Betway is internationally regarded as a big player in online gambling. February of this year saw the company welcoming Brazilian ambassadors into their Betway Squad which brings together major personalities in the eSports world to engage with their substantial fan bases on Betway TV. Their strong presence on social media and connections to online influencers and media channels makes them a formidable competitor in the market.

The online sportsbook Rivalry is among the most popular brands in Brazil and across Latin America. The company, which boasts an impressive social media output and following, has a strong base of users among the under-30s. The company may have experienced a setback earlier this year when their partnership ended with Brazilian FURIA eSports who moved into a new deal with Betway, but they may yet remain a relevant competitor for a company like Esports Technologies.

The Costa-Rican online bookmaker Betcris is a dominant player across the whole Latin American market. It launched its Brazilian site br.betcris.com in November 2020 and its development has been supported by its longstanding marketing relationship with Brazilian soccer superstar Ronaldinho, who has been a prominent brand ambassador with the company since 2019.

Gamers Club is Brazil’s largest eSports platform. It connects aspects of the national scene with training, championships, awards, broadcasts, and live updates and announcements. With a current registered usership of 500,000, it is a major player in the Brazilian eSports market.
