AGA Names New Vice President of Government Affairs

The American Gaming Association will be a voice to pay close attention to when it comes to the legalization and regulation of online gambling in the U.S.A. It is serious news for online gamblers in the States when they announce a new vice president of government affairs.
Mr. Whitaker Lee Askew will be taking on that position. The trade body opened it first office in Washington, D.C., in 1995 and represents the commercial casino entertainment industry by addressing federal legislative and regulatory issues affecting its members, their employees and customers.
Mr. Askew will join president and CEO, Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr and AGA vice president Dorothy Jackson in the board room.  Askew will take the position over from respected former vice president of government affairs, John Versaggi. Whitaker Lee Askew, former aide to the Speaker of the House and is welcomed for his experience.
The team carries on the fundamental goal of the AGA by creating a better understanding of the gaming entertainment industry by bringing facts about the industry to the general public, elected officials, other decision makers and the media through education and advocacy.
The aims of the new vice president of government affairs is to, “broadening the roster of gaming supporters among Washington lawmakers to include representatives of all gaming jurisdictions, as well as those from districts not located in traditional gaming states,”
CEO Fahrenkopf  explained , “Whit’s record of achievement here in Washington speaks for itself, and his contacts and experience will be vital as the AGA embarks on the challenge of introducing the commercial casino industry to more than 100 new Members of Congress.” Fahrenkopf  continued, “In order to expand our coalition of advocates to reflect gaming’s status as a national industry, the AGA needs a strong team, and I firmly believe that Whit will prove to be an excellent addition,”
