NYX Online Gambling Tech Supplier Wants OpenBet

Since 1996 a company known as OpenBet has powered a majority share of the world's online wagers with software launches in multiple, regulated gambling jurisdictions. OpenBet has six offices in North America, Australia, Singapore and London and over 20 clients in the online gambling industry with over 200 integrated partners worldwide.

It was recently revealed in an article in the Telegraph news source that one of the U.K.’s largest gambling concerns William Hill is backing an attempt by Toronto Stock Exchange listed NYX Gaming Group to acquire OpenBet. Open Bet is a sizable enterprise that claims to have performed eleven billion wagering transactions in2014.

The company is owned by private equity firm Vitruvian Partners who are said to have engaged Morgan Stanley to handle the proceedings of OpenBet. It has been suggested that Vitruvian is seeking nearly £300m for the software tech giant.  Vitruvian Partners paid  £208m when it bought OpenBet back in 2011.

Playtech the OpenBet technology supplier rival is also a possible purchaser for the company which may be the reasoning behind why William Hill is financially backing NYX Gaming Groups acquisition attempts. William Hill may be reasoning it is may be over dependant on the Playtech brand. Since the William Hill Online buy out of the twenty nine percent Palytech had in William Hill’s online casino there has been an attitude of presumed dominance of the market from Playtech.

NYX is much smaller than OpenBet, but NYX has been expanding its holding lately. Last April 2015 NYX Gaming Group acquired Amaya Gaming’s Chartwell and Cryptologic Business 2 Business software concerns. This acquisition followed on the heels of the November 2014 purchase of another Amaya property the, Ongame poker network. Recently, NYX Gaming Group bought up Serbia based tech company eGaming Consulting and Quebec Canada located games developer Side City Studios. NYX has four game studios that supply over 600 market leading games to 170 operators worldwide.
