Caribbean Gold Casino Review

CASINO CLOSED - Caribbean Gold Casino.
THIS CASINO IS CLOSED - Caribbean Gold Casino:

CASINO CLOSED ------- - Caribbean Gold Casino has been in business since 1997, which makes it among one of the original casinos online. With eight years experience, they must be doing something right in keeping the player happy, so I realized it was time to give them a visit. Being part of the English Harbour Group, Caribbean Gold Casino is a sister casino to English Harbour Casino, and shares their reputation for offering a fair online gambling experience. The casino is fully licensed by the government of Antigua and Barbuda.

Available in both a download and flash version you have the choice of playing on a lighter version of the casino. I took the download option, which wasn't the fast as other casinos I had downloaded, but straight forward. Once in the casino, I discovered that I still had to download many of the games before I could start playing them, thus if you're using a dial up connection or your Internet is on the slow side for other reasons, Caribbean Gold Casino may take some time to get going.

After providing your personal details, you're free to make a deposit and take advantage of the first deposit bonus. When I signed up the casino was offering 100% match bonus on your first deposit of the amount $50, $100 or $150. I deposited $50 and received the bonus instantly. The casino displays your bonus balance separate to the money you have deposited, which I found to be a nice feature. However, even if you don't wager your bonus, but play with your deposited money and win you are unable to withdrawal more then the amount you have deposited without meeting the wagering requirement on the bonus. The wagering requirement, when I deposited was 16x the bonus plus the deposit, which turned out to be too much for me to make a withdrawal on my first deposit this occasion. After reading the small print on the bonus, I discovered that eight of the casino games are restricted for meeting bonus wagering requirement, which is a greater amount then many other casinos I have visited. Caribbean Gold Casino hosts a wide range of promotional offers, when I playing they where running a sweepstake to give away a Chrysler 300c or Ford Mustang convertible. Check out their promotions page to see the current casino offers.

The casino offers some games that were new to me despite all my time playing online casinos. The casino offers a good range of slots, video poker and progressive games to choose from and many caught my eye for this review,; however there's load more which I could not cover here, worth checking out for yourself.

I started out playing Let them Ride Poker, in which you don't bet against the dealer but rather on your own hand. Initially you place a bet on the table in the circle with a dollar sign in the middle then five cards are dealt, three revealed two hidden. Afterwards you get the choice to 'fold' and end the game and receive no return on your bet or 'call'. To call you have to place an additional bet equal to the first, if you do so one of the hidden cards is turned. Once the card is turned you get the same options as before, this time to make the final bet and reveal the last card in your hand, if you feel that you may be able to make a poker hand and make a win. Examples of the payables on poker hands are available on the game table. The best hand that I managed to muster up was a straight paying out 5/1, giving me a return $18 on a $3 bet, as you can see on the screen shot. You also have the opportunity to place an extra $1 before the cards are dealt, which yield a higher return (e.g. 25/1 for a straight), but your betting blind. I tend not to make the additional $1 bet on Let it Ride unless I am making larger wagers on the hand.

After making a few small gains on Let it Ride I decided to start playing on Caribbean Gold Casino's Progressive Blackjack game, which was carrying a $33,547 jackpot at the time of playing. I was unable to get the help function in the game to work so I couldn't find out too much information about the game - however, from what I can make out, it's a four deck version of Blackjack with wagering on your hand pretty standard. To win the progressive jackpot you have to make a side wager of $1 before the hands are dealt, then get four aces of the same suit on your hand. If you get four aces of any suit you can carry away 10% of the progressive jackpot. I experienced such bad luck on this table that I couldn't even beat the dealer on my blackjack hands let alone win on the $1 side ante.

On one occasion the casino software stalled on me, even those my internet connection appeared to be running just fine. After waiting a while for the casino to respond I decided the only option was to close the casino via windows task manager. When closing the casino and returning to windows my task bar at the bottom of my desktop had disappeared. After making some attempt, without success to resolve the problem through windows control manager, I tried a restart to still find no taskbar. It was only when I re-entered Caribbean Gold Casino and logged out again that, much to my relief the task bar returned. To be honest, in the time that I spent at the casino I experienced a hand full of problems with the software stalling or being unable to function properly. The many times that I attempted to contact online help the software was totally unable to support my request, and I was never able to use this feature.

I decided to sample the progressive slot called Red White and Win, which was holding a huge jackpot of $242,619 when I was on the machine. You can wager either $2.50, $5 or $7.50 on the line. To win the jackpot you have to bet the max of $7.50 per spin and pull out three USA flags on a line. I didn't find much luck playing on this game.

Later, I played some spins on a slot called Mah Jung Madness, with 21 payable lines over 5 reels. Betting low on each reel but keeping the per line wager low it's hard not to win something on a spin. In fact I pulled out some small wins and enjoying playing Mah Jung Madness. Then after playing some $20 bets of Casino War I pulled my deposit balance to $90. After realizing that I still had some serious ground to make on the wagering requirements, I turned back to Let them Ride, betting $30 a hand. This lasted about 20 hands until my balance disappeared, but I did have some good wins and everything about my gaming experience appeared more then fair at Caribbean Gold Casino.

I decided that I wanted to test the withdrawal process at Caribbean Gold Casino, so I made a NETeller deposit of $60 with no bonus, wagered and won a little, then sent it straight back as a NETeller withdrawal. The cashier claimed that NETeller withdrawals take three working days and that was exactly how long my withdrawal took to process without any fuss. This is impressive for a first withdrawal at any casino, and clearly indicates the sincerity of Caribbean Gold Casino.

In summary, Caribbean Gold Casino offers a safe option for gambling online, they have a long reputation for providing fair casino games and looking after their players. The casino offers a wide range of games which you will find in few other casinos on the Internet. While the casino software may not function as well as you'll find with other software providers, the games seem fair - and maybe it's the gambling that's important and not the way the graphic look when it comes down to it.
