Hype Gaming Review

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hype Gaming Casino has closed it's virtual doors.
Hype Gaming:

In an industry dominated by major names like Microgaming, Playtech and Real Time Gaming, it's always good to hear of new software being launched in to the online casino world. Unfortunately, it is often only non-reliable casinos that are interested in new software - because it is often cheaper to license when compared to established named software. However, Hype Gaming Casino is definitely different, and has been launched to acclaim from regular online players. As such, I decided to try out Hype Gaming Casino to - excuse the pun - see what the hype was all about.

The first thing that struck me about the Hype Gaming website was the attractive style used to convey important information on the casino website. Sections are available on all the key parts of the casino (baking, etc.), and the general look and feel was, for me, very appealing. The software download is also obtained from the Hype Gaming website, and this is a must for all players as there is no web-based casino interface available. The software is just over 6mb in size, which should be manageable for most players.

For me, download and installation went by without any problem, and I was soon presented with the Hype lobby. The first thing I noticed was that the lobby immediately began downloading the different games available. From what I could see, the games appeared to be installing pretty quickly, which I thought was definitely a positive sign - I hate casinos where you spend a good few minutes installing the lobby only to find it then takes another age to download the games!

Hype Gaming Casino may be the new kid on the block, but they've gone with the tried and tested methods when it comes to recording a new player's details. Basically, a browser-type form is used to collect all those important player details. Of course, Hype Gaming is a fully-secure casino, so there should be no worry about providing personal details upon registration. I signed up without issue and was soon logged in. I then instantly headed to the cashier to begin my gaming session.

At Hype Gaming Casino, the minimum purchase amount is $25, and a small number of deposit options are available. These include credit cards, NETeller, Click 2 Pay and Fire Pay. Despite the uncertainty with US-based gambling, Hype have decided to use the US $ as the casino currency. This isn't a problem and online wallets such as NETeller will automatically convert dollar requests to a person's home currency if required. I purchased $100 via NETeller without hassle.

At this point, my account actually reflected a $200 account balance. This was because of the instantly-added sign-up bonus. In fact, free cash is added to a player's first three deposits - totaling a sign-up bonus maximum of $700 extra. Of course, wagering conditions apply to any bonus, and for this reason I actually decided to ask for the bonus to be removed.

I did this through contacting the casino customer support. Support is available via email and live chat. A nice touch is that the live-chat facility can be found both on the casino website and also inside the casino software. As such, a player can receive instant help without even having to leave the casino. I think it's a slight disappointment that telephone help is not available, but after clicking on the live chat icon I was connected to a support representative within literally a few seconds, who was able to remove the unwanted bonus within minutes. All in all - pretty good. However, I have also read that when emailing Hype it can take a while for a response to be received. I cannot say whether this is true as I did not text email support, although I had an urgent problem I would recommend using the live chat facility anyway.

When it comes to presenting games at Hype Gaming Casino, they have taken the traditional route of breaking games down by type. As such, all the slot games can be found in one menu, and similarly table games can be found at another. However, as stated this is a new casino and from what I could see the selection of available games is not huge. For example, the table games offered consisted (at the time of playing) of Blackjack, Roulette, Sic Bo and Baccarat. Of course, this covers the major table games people normally play, but may be too much of a limited section to appeal to all players.

On the plus side, however, is the fact that Hype offers a super range of minimum and maximum bets. Firstly, the 'standard' table games accept bets between $1 and $500, with multi-hand Blackjack allowing bets to be placed on up to 5 spots. However, for the low-rollers out there, the casino also offers micro games - which accept bets as low as $0.02 ($0.01 at roulette). A selection as good as this is definitely welcome and should mean both small and big bettors alike should be satisfied here.

I tried out some play at the Blackjack and Roulette tables, and have to say I was perfectly satisfied. The graphics used are definitely of a good standard, and both the games I played utilized sound effects to add to the realism of the game. The blackjack game, for example, has a dealer voice over and it was definitely nice to hear the dealer saying 'too many' when the dealer's hand went bust! Having said that, my wins were outweighed by my losses, and I came away from the table games about $25 poorer than when I started playing!

I decided next to check out the Video Poker offerings. Again, the selection of games is limited; with the games Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild and Joker's Wild being available. It has to be said that these games do play well, but the lack of selection is disappointing. Similarly, the fact these games are only available as single-hand games will also put off some players. I was also disappointed to see that the pay tables for the available games was definitely on the stingy side - a Royal Flush at Jacks or Better, for example, pays only 1250 coins as opposed to 4000 at may other casinos. This definitely gives the advantage a good 4-5% edge over a full-pay table and will instantly put off a regular video poker player.

The final section of the casino I checked out was the online slots area. This section of the casino definitely proved to be my favorite, as it contains a number of great games that cannot be found elsewhere. The Hype slots take the form of video slots, meaning each game has 5-reels and multiple paylines to maximize a player's chance of winning. However, pretty much every game has a number of cool bonus rounds and the chance to win great jackpots! The White Wizard and Firework Frenzy game both have multiple progressive jackpots that pay out as high as $500,000!

I actually had great luck while playing the Hype Gaming slots. I was successful enough to hit a cool $53.10 win on the Fireworks Frenzy game, and an even cooler $78.45 win on the White Wizard game. In fact, in a playing session subsequent to this one I managed to win a huge $2500 on the Magic Mushroom game by picking a x100 bet multiplier on the bonus round after placing a risky $25 bet! On this occasion though, my slot wins were enough to take my $100 starting balance to $200. And for me, this was enough - so I headed to the cashier to make a cash out!

Unfortunately, it was at this time I ran in to some problems. Firstly, the cashier would not let me cash out. This proved to be a bug in the software, but was disconcerting nevertheless. Even more annoying was that the withdrawals team reversed my cash in twice for not meeting wagering requirements - even though I had had the bonus removed! On top of this, I was asked to send in fax verification deposits, which always annoys me! I guess this is down to teething issues, but definitely made me slightly more wary of Hype. Having said that, the withdrawal was ultimately processed back to my NETeller account after around 10 days. A more recent check indicated withdrawals should take 2-3 working days to be processed.

As I have already commented on Hype's customer support, all I need to do now is conclude, and on this topic I would say I was satisfied overall with Hype Gaming Casino. I do think the game selection at present is not great, but the games that are available all play well. In particular, the slots are a great draw for this casino, and from what I have seen at online forums are proving popular with online players. The support offering is adequate, but I do think the casino needs to improve its withdrawal processing systems. Having said that, I do think this casino will improve over time, and as newcomer to the world of online gambling, I think Hype is definitely worth a try. Now... to see if my $2500 withdrawal is processed without problem.

Update: I did get paid... but not as fast as I would have liked.
