Slots Royale:

Slots Royale is a Microgaming-powered casino that is actually one that I'd not played at before. For those that are unfamiliar to online casinos, Microgaming is a leading producer of casino software and indeed a number of casinos operate using it. Similarly, casinos using this software generally have very good reputations so I was surprised that I'd not come across this one before. Nevertheless, it was this situation I found myself in when I was asked to give this casino the once over.

The Slots Royale website is nicely put together and as well as being attractive on the eye, it also contains key information to a player thinking of playing. Of course, it also provides a link to the all-important software download. Slots Royale does allow play via a no-download Flash interface. However, for the full experience the casino has to offer I would highly recommend the download version. Indeed, it is this option I went for and is also the subject of this review.

The download software comes in the form of a 3.26mb software installer. This is a smallish download and even players on a slow connection should have no problems. However, this installation does not contain any games - rather it is just the casino lobby that is included. Further games are requested from the internet as a player plays, although this is a seamless operation and I had no problems with the download and installation of the casino.

Play at Slots Royale can take place in both free and real play. However, once a real play account has been created it is not possible to create the free play account. As such, those that want to test the casino for free should create this type of account first. However, for me (being a hardened gambler!) I went straight on to create a new account. This is a straight forward procedure with a few pages of forms being used to capture a new player's details. I set up a US $ account but the casino also offers play in other standard currencies including UK £ and Euros. Even less-popular currencies such as the South African Rand and the Canadian Dollar are supported - something that shows the casino recognizes its global appeal.

Depositing at Slots Royal is made very easy with the cashier offer a large number of deposit options. These include e-wallet solutions such as FirePay and NeTeller as well as traditional methods such as credit card. I used my NeTeller account to deposit $100 - a transaction that went through without issue.

I personally chose not to take any bonus on this deposit. However, there are some amazing promotions available at Slots Royale. This includes a great 'no purchase' free play promotion. This promo allows a player to gamble with $750 of the casino's money - completely for free! A player is then given 60 minutes to win as much as they can, with any monies above the starting amount awarded to the player! For those that like a 'traditional' style promo, Slots Royale also offer match deposit bonuses - all of this is great for those that like more bang for their buck!

Slots Royale runs using the latest Viper software from Microgaming and as such offers players hundreds of games to choose from. Indeed, whilst the casino is named Slots Royale, in reality the casino offers players a whole selection of games to select from. Thankfully, an easy-to-use interface is used to present the games available. Games are broken down by type (e.g. slots, table games) and a clever game preview function allows a player to preview a game and its rules even before they load it. This is great and makes game selection really straight forward.

To begin my play I started by checking out the table games available. A huge range of games are available including classics such as Blackjack and Roulette. However, even choosing a game like Blackjack can be more complicated than it appears - Slots Royale offers a huge selection of tables each playing to different rules from around the world. Fancy a multi-hand game playing to Atlantic City rules? No problem - you'll find the game at Slots Royale!

It was the Atlantic City Blackjack table that I opted to play and was instantly impressed with the presentation of the game. The graphics are appealing and with sound effects and dealer voice overs (all user configured) also present, it really makes game play enjoyable. The user interface is easy-to-use and thanks to handy extras such as perfect play strategy cards, it's easy to see why online casinos such as this as so popular. A bet range of $2 - $200 should satisfy most people, particularly since the multi-hand tables allow bets on up to 5 spots per round.

Following on from my play at the table games (where I ended up around $15 down on my starting $100) I decided to check out the video poker games. Historically Microgaming-powered casinos have only offered single-hand Video Poker games. However, all that has changed now and Slots Royale is bang up-to-date with its offering of a variety of multi-hand games. Many of the VP varieties available are playable over 4, 10, 50 or even 100 hands.

I personally opted to start out playing 100-hand Aces and Faces. This is a great game that can pay off really well when the 4-of-a-kinds come in. Unfortunately, I didn't win anything from that high up the payout table. However, the game itself was really fun to play. Again great graphics are used and the game speed is good. I like a fast game and that's what I got. However, I did find that the speed of the game is something that can be configured - another great little touch. I also checked out All American VP game as well as the Deuces Wild 10-hand game. However, since this is Slots Royale I decided I really should check out the slots that are available.

Of course, with a name like Slots Royale you would expect a decent selection of slots to be available and indeed the casino does not disappoint. Over 100 different games are available ranging from single-line, three-reel slots to huge multi-line video slots with bonus rounds and progressive jackpots. The nice thing I liked was the fact that even with the video slots, each game is different with a varying number of paylines etc. available. For slot players, I really do think Slots Royale could be a casino heaven!

I started off playing the brightly-coloured 5-Reel Drive game. This is a Video Slot with bright graphics really enhancing the game play. I liked the fact this game had only 9 paylines as it meant each bet wasn't taking too much of my money. However, I think I liked more the fact that on my very first $2.25 bet I span in a lovely $52.50 win! There's nothing like a good starting spin to put you in a good mood!

I also played the Cash and Curry game. UK players will be familiar to this type of game where a certain combination of symbols activates the 'main game' where huge pay offs are playable. However, as with real UK fruit machines, this game goes through huge 'dry' periods before paying off large amounts of money in quick succession. Unfortunately it was the dry period that I hit when playing, although this novel game is certainly entertaining!

For some people, though, slot play is all about chasing that jackpot and at Slots Royale a number of games offer players the chance to win huge payoffs for very small bets. A number of progressive jackpots are available where the top payout continually climbs until it is won! The Major Millions game is a great example of this type of game - for just $3 players can win jackpots valued at millions of dollars. In fact, this jackpot has climbed to near $2m previously!

Unfortunately the slots were not particularly kind to me. I think part of the problem is the games are just too much fun! With great graphics and sound effects these games really are entertaining, and with new games (such as the great Hitman game) being added each month, a slots player really can get lost here! Of course, if I had won I would have been paid quickly by this casino - 24-48 hours is the usual time frame it takes for monies to be paid out once a withdrawal is approved.

During this playing session I had no actual reason to contact customer support. However, it is always important that a casino offers good support so of course I checked out the offering in this area. Slots Royal offer support via telephone, email and live chat. This is a good selection and the live chat facility I tested worked well -within around a minute of waiting I was chatting with Jacob who was polite and knowledgeable. My only criticism is that toll-free telephone numbers are only available for those in the USA, Canada and the UK. However, I support with live chat being available this is not so bad.

In conclusion I think Slots Royale is a thoroughly entertaining casino. The range of games is superb and both slot and non-slot players alike should find something to keep them occupied. The graphics and sound effect are top rate and with so much of the casino being user-configurable, players should be able to have things exactly as they want. Cash processing is good, although I suppose things could be a little faster in this area. Support offering is good, although again more toll-free numbers would improve things. These are very minor points though, and for those looking for a reputable casino with a great entertainment factor, Slots Royale would fit the bill perfectly.
