Our 888casino Review: What Malta Players Get

888casino Games and Exclusives

888casino has more than 3,800 games, and over 200 of them are exclusives from its own Section8 Studios, so titles like Sizzling Hot Jokers and Aztec Realm are ones you won’t find at other Malta casinos. The big names are here too, from Gonzo’s Quest to Starburst. Jackpots are another reason to look closely. Besides network pots like Playtech’s Leprechaun’s Luck, which had passed €4.7 million when I checked, 888 runs its own must-drop jackpots: the Daily Jackpot pays out at least once every 24 hours, and Power 8 drops every eight hours. That’s the type of jackpot I prefer, because a network progressive can go months without dropping.

The Most Popular 888casino Slots & Table Games

Slot tiles in the lobby show live jackpot amounts and must-drop countdowns, but no RTP, so you’ll need to open a game to see its payout rate.

On the table games side, the exclusive RNG roulette comes in European, French, American, and SuperStakes versions, and there are seven exclusive video poker games.

• Sizzling Hot Jokers: 888 Exclusive Slot

• 888 Megaways: Exclusive Megaways Slot

• SuperStakes Roulette: Exclusive RNG Roulette

• 888 Free Bet Blackjack: Exclusive Live Table

• Leprechaun’s Luck: Biggest Progressive Jackpot

Slots make up most of the collection, but I’d start with the 888 Exclusive tab, where the in-house roulette variants and video poker are the games you can’t play elsewhere.

The rest of the games come from 47 studios, among them NetEnt, Playtech, Red Tiger, Blueprint, and Pragmatic Play.

The Range of Live Games

The live casino has more than 500 tables, and next to the usual roulette and blackjack lobbies, 888 runs its own exclusive tables, like 888 Free Bet Blackjack with stakes from €10 to €1,000. Each live tile shows the stake range, the dealer’s name, and how many seats are free before you join, which saves you from opening a table just to find out it’s full.

Portable and Mobile Gaming

888casino has a native app for iOS and Android, but you don’t need it: the mobile site runs the same lobby in your browser.

The apps are rated 4.5 on the App Store and 4.1 on Google Play, and the welcome offer works through them too.

888casino Stakes: High and Low Roller Games

The ceilings are high across the board: slots go up to €1,000 a spin and the live tables up to €40,000, while the lowest stakes start at €0.01 on slots and €0.10 at the tables. Roulette runs from €0.10 to €15,000, and blackjack from €0.10 to €3,000.

Other 888casino Gambling Games

Away from slots and live tables, 888casino has scratch cards and keno, plus slot categories such as Megaways, Bonus Buy, Crash, and Super Wheel, which make it easy to browse by game type.

888casino Payouts, Odds, and RTPs

888casino’s average payout rate is 95.39%, but the same game can run at different RTP settings from one casino to the next, so it’s worth opening the game info before you play.

888casino also publishes its monthly payout percentage on its About page, so you can check the figure yourself instead of taking a review’s word for it.

888casino Deposit and Withdrawal Methods

Almost every payment method at 888casino works both ways, and none of them charge you a fee.

Every withdrawal first sits in pending for up to 3 business days, and you can cancel it during that time. After that, e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller pay out in 1-2 days, Visa and Apple Pay take up to 5, and bank transfers 4-7.

Withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with first, so it’s worth depositing with the one you’d like to be paid with. You can withdraw up to €30,000 a month. You’ll need to verify your account before your first withdrawal, and 888casino usually completes the check within 24 to 48 hours. I upload my ID right after registering, so the first payout isn’t held up.

Layout and Website Usability

888casino’s lobby runs off a left-hand menu with separate tabs for Jackpots, 888 Exclusive, and the VIP Club, and the search bar finds games by theme or studio as well as by name. On the slots page, you can filter by volatility, which I don’t see often, but there’s no RTP filter.

The homepage is long, and some tiles on the jackpots page load blank, so the search bar is the quickest way to a game.

888casino Company Information

888casino is one of the earliest online casinos still running: 888 was founded back in 1997 by the brothers Avi and Aaron Shaked and Shay and Ron Ben-Yitzhak. Malta players are served by Virtual Digital Services Limited in Sliema, while the wider group also holds UK, Gibraltar, and Irish licences.

Other Details About the Casino

Before your first deposit, I’d set a deposit limit in your account settings. It’s easy to lose track of spending during a good session, and the limit is there before you need it.

Customer Support Methods at 888casino

There’s no phone line for Malta, so live chat is the way to reach support, and it’s open 24/7. For anything you might need to refer back to, like a withdrawal query, email support@888.com and keep the reply.

Before opening a chat, it’s worth searching the Help Centre. It splits its articles into six categories, with 29 on deposits alone, so most payment questions already have an answer there.

Staying Safe and Secure Online

888casino is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA/CRP/121/2006-09), and if a complaint ever gets stuck with support, eCOGRA is the MGA-approved dispute service you can take it to.

Extra Points and Awards

888 has won EGR Casino Operator of the Year five times, most recently in 2022. Here’s how its extras score in this 888casino review:

• AWARDS . 3/3

• PROMOTIONS . 2/3

• SPECIAL GAMES . 2/2

• LOYALTY SCHEME . 1/1

• EXTRAS . 1/1

• BONUS POINTS . 9/10

Besides the welcome offer, there’s a Jackpot Drop worth over €30,000 a day, a Lucky Wheel on deposits, and the Drops & Wins network tournaments, which pay cash prizes with no wagering.

888casino Review Conclusion

I looked at 888casino the way a Malta player would: licence, games, bonus terms, and banking. The game selection is the clear strength, with more than 3,800 games and over 200 exclusives, while banking is solid rather than fast: there are no fees, but withdrawals wait up to 3 business days before they’re paid out.

If phone support or quicker payouts matter more to you than the game selection, Hyper Casino, which we’ve also reviewed, aims to process withdrawals within 24 hours and has a Malta phone line. For a wider comparison, our list of the best online casinos in Malta has alternatives worth comparing.

Frequently Asked Questions

While researching and testing for this 888casino casino review, we came across a few recurring questions online. We’ve addressed them below, focusing on the details that were only briefly touched on earlier.

How do I claim the 888casino welcome bonus?

Make your first deposit of at least €10, then claim the bonus within 48 hours through the email, the pop-up, or the “My Account” page. You’ll get a 100% match up to €500, and the bonus stays valid for 90 days.

Which games don’t count towards the bonus?

At 888casino, progressive jackpots and a list of excluded slots, including Dead or Alive, Jack Hammer, and Reel Rush, don’t count. The full list sits in the T&Cs, so it’s worth a look before you start wagering.

Is the welcome bonus available in Malta?

Yes. 888casino runs the offer through Virtual Digital Services Limited, the company that holds 888’s Malta Gaming Authority licence for EU players, and the T&Cs don’t exclude any EU country.

Is there an 888casino no deposit bonus in Malta?

No, there’s currently no no deposit bonus for Malta players. The welcome offer needs a first deposit of at least €10.

Are there free spins in the welcome offer?

Yes. 888casino adds 100 free spins on Book of Dead at €0.10 each, and you’ll need to use them within 14 days. Free spin winnings are capped at €20 and arrive as bonus money with 30x wagering within 90 days.

Is there a maximum bet with the bonus?

No, 888casino’s T&Cs don’t set one. What changes is how much each bet counts towards the 30x wagering: slots count in full, while blackjack and roulette count 10% and craps only 5%.

Can I use the welcome bonus on live casino games?

Yes, but at 888casino live games only count 10% towards the wagering, and Live Baccarat and Live Roulette are excluded completely, so slots are the faster way to clear it.

Is PayPal available at 888casino in Malta?

No. 888casino only takes PayPal in Spain, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden. In Malta, Skrill, Neteller, and Luxon Pay are the e-wallets you can use instead. If PayPal is a must, our list of the best PayPal Casinos covers Malta casinos that take it.
