Every now and again, Hacksaw will give up on immersive themes and complicated mechanics and roll with a theme that’s pure vibe check. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but with Dandy Diamonds, we feel like they captured the allure of the classic American slot machine. And yes, the audio track definitely helps.

This is the kind of slot that kept the Las Vegas Strip packed with our grandparents for four decades, so there must be some appeal, and old school is definitely cool again, especially when repackaged as well as Hacksaw has here. Retro has never looked or sounded so good.

Full Rules & Information About the Dandy Diamonds Online Slot

We have a typical 5×5 grid this time, and we want to fill it with Diamonds. Hacksaw has deliberately kept volatility at a comfortable medium here, though max win is only 5,000x, which is a bit of a trade-off.

The Diamonds act as a wild, but they can also carry additive bonuses of 2x to 100x. Every diamond, regardless, triggers a Dandy Respin during which all diamonds are sticky, giving us a chance to add some serious coin, as each winning payline is multiplied by the multiplier. If more than one diamond is involved in a payline, then we multiply them together.

Now for the really big news: land those diamonds in a square, regardless of size, from 2×2 all the way up to 5×5, and you get a Colossal Diamond. All multipliers are added together, and now it substitutes for any other symbol in that payline. If more diamonds land around it, it can continue to grow and, of course, add multipliers.

The other important symbol here are the Bolts. These Lighting Bolt symbols will add additional multipliers when they land adjacent to Diamonds or Super Diamond cells. Amounts vary randomly from 2x to 20x.

Dandy Diamonds Symbols & Payouts

Like any good retro slot, the pay table here is a homage to the old school fruit machines of Fremont Street gone by. Here we have the 10 through Ace for the lower-paying symbols, and limes and cherries, mixed with dice, a crown, and a star to round out the higher-paying symbols.

Five diamonds in a payline remain the top-paying symbol, however, at 40x. We’ve got 19 winning paylines in this title.

Dandy Diamonds Bonuses & Features

We will need at least three of the neon FS scatters to enter the bonus rounds. The first one, appropriately enough, is Diamond in the Rough. With this round, we start with 10 free spins and an increased chance of landing those all-important Diamonds. More FS scatters during the round add to your free spin totals.

With four of the scatters, we can try our hand at Play with Safir. Again, we start with ten free spins, and more scatters will add to that total. But here we lose the Dandy Respins and keep all our Diamonds and Colossal Diamonds exactly where they are throughout the round.

This sticky feature can mean multipliers begin to stack very quickly, especially if you can land some Bolt or Epic Bolts to pad your totals.

50x buys you into the Diamond in the Rough Bonus Round

We unlock the hidden bonus round with five of the scatters. This is called Ice and Shine, and not only do the Diamonds and Colossal Diamonds stay sticky as in the Play with Safir round, but you are also guaranteed at least one 3×3 Diamond on your first spin. Add some Bolts and more FS scatters to get some extra spins here, and you can easily start to move towards that 5,000x top payout.

Similar Games & Best Alternatives

Hacksaw’s Ultimate Slot of America closely resembles this game and is probably best seen as its ideological predecessor. It’s also worth a play, though our personal choice would still be Dandy Diamonds just for the soundtrack and low-fi graphics. What can we say? We’re big fans of muted pastels.

If your preference is a little more world-building and a little less vibe, Hacksaw has dozens of totally immersive titles to choose from that lean hard into both mechanics and storytelling. Some of our favourites you may not have tried yet include Bowery Boys and Aiko and the Wind Spirit.

Neon Sheep and Electric Dreams

Not every title has to be a cinematic tour de force or have a storyline that takes up a thousand words. Sometimes a simple chill vibe and an easy-to-understand mechanic are all that’s needed to help us through the time we’ve allotted for a little slot R and R.

Dandy Diamonds understood the assignment; however, that sense of liminal space and weightlessness, that just lets you drift, it’s a perfect way to relax and unwind when you don’t need to fight Greek Gods tonight or run from Ancient Egyptian Mummies, but prefer instead to play.
