Australia’s Dabble Launches In UK, Pledging Next-Generation Betting

The UK has an exciting new destination for online betting, with Australian operator Dabble having completed its launch.

Key Facts:

  • Dabble got its Gambling Commission licence a few weeks ago
  • The Dabble app then went live in the UK on June 1
  • Dabble said its annual revenues improved to £56m in 2024
  • England cricket captain Michael Vaughan is promoting Dabble

Dabble has already proven a hit in Australia, and the company behind the betting brand is now branching out into new markets such as the UK.

From its base in the northern city of Leeds, Dabble has formed a strategic technology partnership with BetMakers Technology.

The company is supplying Dabble with its Price Manager and Racelab ProFORM products to provide the power behind horse racing content on the app.

Younger sports fans have been particularly drawn to using Dabble in Australia recently.

The company said its annual revenues shot up to £56 million in 2024, which was a massive boost on the £22.5 million reported the previous year.

Dabble will now be hoping its UK launch is similarly successful as it aims for further growth.

Next Generation

Dabble’s UK launch marks the second new country the app has arrived in since it formed in 2020, with the company bringing its offering to the United States after starting out in Australia.

But for the Dabble chief executive, Tom Rundle, there is more to the ambition of the firm than expanding its share of a competitive market.

He said: “We want to provide the next generation of wagering entertainment that isn’t just about odds and outcomes. We believe our product resonates with how today’s punters interact – and we’re confident it will thrive in the UK.”

Dabble allows users to ‘copy’ a bet, while the social side is also more advanced than many of the UK’s other sports betting options. At Dabble, players can get involved with a banter channel that has been inspired by social media.

Influencer marketing has been used as a key tool to propel Dabble’s growth in Australia, but this strategy has caused problems for some operators such as Stake.

Crypto-focused casino and sports betting site Stake, which like Dabble was founded in Australia, exited the UK market following a raft of negative headlines.

Building Something Sustainable

While the country has an almost endless choice of online casinos and UK sports betting sites, Dabble claims to be offering something different from the existing options.

Speaking to SBC News, Rundle added: “The UK market has remained surprisingly static in terms of innovation. “

“We believe we’re bringing something refreshingly different – and more importantly, something sustainable.”

With the UK launch expected to gather pace over the summer – the former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan has been signed up as a shareholder and brand ambassador – Dabble is already mulling which country to make its fourth market.

Brazil, which recently opened its doors to legal sports betting, is thought to be a strong option.
