Unlicensed Online Casino Warning Issued By MGA

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has issued a warning over an online casino site that is lying about having a licence from the body.

Players are reminded to only play at licensed online casino sites

Key Facts:

  • The casinowinner.io platform claims to have an MGA licence
  • But the MGA says this is not the case and denied any links to it
  • Licensed online casino operators have to comply with strict regulatory standards that are designed to protect players
  • However, the same rules do not apply to unlicensed operators

The MGA has released a statement saying casinowinner.io platform does not have a licence.

On the casinowinner.io online casino site, it claims to be licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) under Licence Number MGA/B2B/973/2022.

The MGA has moved to deny that this is the case, however, stressing that casinowinner.io has not received a licence to legally operate from the regulatory body.

It said in a statement: “The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is hereby declaring that it has no connection with casinowinner.io.

“Any reference to the MGA and/or gaming licence/s said to be issued by the Maltese Authority, as stated by casinowinner.io, is false and misleading.”

Strict Legal Requirements

Players are not protected at all if they choose to play casino games at an unlicensed site.

A list of MGA-licensed entities is available and can be viewed on its site, while UK licensed online casinos are listed by the UK’s Gambling Commission..

The MGA went on to issue some more details on what online casino players should do to ensure that they have protections.

It said: “The MGA would like to remind consumers not to utilise services provided by an entity unless they have ascertained that the entity in question is authorised to provide such services by the MGA.

“The gaming regulatory framework obliges authorised persons to comply with strict legal requirements in the interest of consumers.

“The activities of unlicensed entities are unregulated and do not provide the necessary safeguards delineated by virtue of the framework, making transactions with such entities risky for consumers.”

Latest Warning Issued

The warning from the MGA about casinowinner.io being an unlicensed and unregulated online casino site comes after several similar statements from the regulator.

Just last month, the MGA confirmed that 17 different URLs that could be associated with the God55 online casino site are unauthorised.

Another warning was issued by the MGA about multiple online casino websites, including nagacash9x.com and a few other related domains, just a few days prior.

It said that they were falsely claiming to have an association with the regulatory body in a similar way to the God55 online casino site and the casinowinner.io platform.
