Key Facts:

  • Allwyn’s finances continue to be in a strong position
  • Revenues for Q1 were up 6% compared to last year’s data
  • Allwyn reported total revenue of €2.24bn for the period
  • But the firm could face financial penalties as the UK Gambling Commission is carrying out a review of Allwyn

The company said revenues for the three months to the end of March 2025 were €2.24 billion, an increase of 6% year-on-year.

Allwyn’s preliminary unaudited financial results show that its gross gaming revenue (GGR) was also up, rising by 7% year-on-year and climbing to €2.15 billion.

The firm’s results were particularly good in the UK, where Allwyn took over running the National Lottery from long-time operator Camelot after a controversial and drawn-out process.

The company said UK revenues were up 4% from January to March 2025, with the data showing that they increased from €957 million to €1 billion.

Revenues at Allwyn were up in four of the company’s five core markets worldwide.

Good Start To 2025

Alongside the financial data, Allwyn’s chief executive officer, Robert Chvatal, offered an assessment of the company’s position over the quarter.

Chvatal said in a statement: “I am very pleased to report a good start to 2025, with the continued successful execution of our growth strategies sustaining the positive momentum from our record performance in 2024.”

“Total revenue increased 6% year-on-year reflecting growth in the digital channel, in addition to further enhancements to our proposition, as we constantly seek to elevate the player experience.”

“We look forward to continuing to work together with our partners to deliver for players and all stakeholders, while also supporting responsible play.”

Allwyn was founded as Sazka in the Czech Republic, but the company went through a group-wide rebrand in 2022.

As well as running the UK’s lottery, Allwyn recently celebrated LottoItalia being selected to operate the Italian Lotto licence for the next nine years.

Tougher Times Ahead?

While Allwyn’s revenues show positive signs for the future, there may be concerns around an ongoing investigation by UK betting regulator the Gambling Commission.

Allwyn recently noted it could face “enforcement action” as a result of missing targets on technical upgrades it promised as part of its lottery takeover.

However, the company is choosing to take a positive attitude despite potentially facing fines.

Chvatal added: “Overall, I am pleased with the start of the year and believe we are well-placed for the remainder of 2025.”

“As always, I look forward with excitement to what the future holds for Allwyn as we continue to focus on delivering our strategy.”
