PokerStars announces $50 million Anniversary Series of tournaments to celebrate its 25th year.

Leading poker room PokerStars is set to celebrate its 25th birthday with an Anniversary Series of online poker tournaments boasting a massive $50 million in guaranteed prize pools. One of the largest series in PokerStars history, action will begin on May 10.
Running until June 3, the Anniversary Series is seen as a celebration of the platform’s legacy and a statement of intent for the future of online poker. Its action-packed schedule lists 156 events, most of which have three tiers of buy-ins.
In total, the Anniversary Series consists of 461 tournaments. To cater for players of all levels and pockets, buy-ins range from $5.50 up to $15,000. Satellite qualification for tournaments begins at just $0.55.
Main Events, Mysteries and Much More
At the heart of the festival are three flagship Main Events, which combined guarantee $6 million in prize money. These tiered tournaments, priced at $109, $1,050 and $5,200, begin on Sunday, May 24.
Weekly Sunday highlights, including the Sunday Million, Sunday High Rollers, and Mystery Bounty Specials, proceed as normal on prior Sundays; all have impressive guarantees. Furthermore, three Second Chance Main Events (PKO games) on May 31 offer players a chance to win part of $1.65 million in guarantees.
Announcing the series, Steve Clarricoats, Associate Director of Online Scheduling, said: “Putting $50 million up in guarantees shows our focus remains on bringing the best of PokerStars to more players in a variety of tournaments. We’re proud to celebrate 25 years of PokerStars bringing big money poker tournaments safely to players around the world.”
Like the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), which took place throughout March, PokerStars says the Anniversary Series features “plenty of mixed games and interesting tournament formats” on its schedule, plus “an exciting leaderboard with prizes and trophies on the line.”
$650,000 worth of Anniversary Series Lucky Dip tickets will reportedly be given away by PokerStars in the coming weeks, and $100,000 in added prizes is up for grabs for prominent finishers on the low, medium, high, and overall player of the series leaderboards.
Anniversary to Celebrate Star Milestones
The site is currently celebrating several milestones and partying in different ways. In addition to the Anniversary Series, PokerStars’ most recent updates gave players the option to play online on a new 25th-anniversary commemorative-themed table.
PokerStars will also celebrate the 15th anniversary of its Sunday Storm tournament with a $500,000-guaranteed progressive knockout bounty tournament priced at just $11 during the Anniversary Series.
Meanwhile, PokerStars European Poker Tour heads back to Monte Carlo for its coming-of-age 21st year next week. The 11-day live poker festival, featuring 62 events including €100,000 and €250,000 entry competitions, has added bells and whistles, including a Formula 1 circuit drive experience for players.
