We’ve followed Play’n GO through dozens of Ancient Egypt releases, from Legacy of Dead to Cat Wilde’s many misadventures. Still, Ra’s Reckoning feels like the studio finally tore that tired template up.

This slot looks nothing like those earlier titles. Instead, it leans into a trippy, poster-art aesthetic that brings the whole game to life.

Cluster pays and coin reveals won’t surprise more seasoned players. But the Divine Frames keep the board active with at least small bursts of wins, especially in the free spin rounds. And did we mention the max payout of 50,000x?

Just remember: the volatility is every bit as high as advertised, though perhaps not as high as the art director.

The game takes place on a 6×5 grid. It uses cluster pays, and you need to land 5 matching symbols to form a win. Mega Drop cascades remove and fill in all winning symbols.

Divine Frames then fill in the missing symbols and can be levelled up from bronze to silver to gold after each win, which can kick-start escalating rewards.

The Ra’s blessing symbol, which can occur either in the regular base game or in the Mega Drop, can activate them, revealing coins, though there is also a chance that it may reveal a clash symbol, which multiplies all the coin symbols by up to 10x.

It can also reveal a Jar symbol, and that jar then collects all the coins on the board.

Ra’s Reckoning Symbols & Payouts

As per usual, the lower-paying symbols are 10 through Ace, but we also have cats, ankhs, the Eye of Horus, and lotus flowers. The wild symbol is a pyramid and can replace any other symbol.

The scatter symbol is a rather disturbing red dragon’s eye, though we aren’t clear how a red dragon got hauled into this Egyptian motif. The Ra’s blessing symbol is Ra himself with his falcon face.

The clash symbol is simply “clash” with its multiplier written on it. The jars, coins and frames are equally clear.

Ra’s Reckoning Bonuses & Features

The free spin rounds use the sticky frame mechanics. In Red Eclipse, the frames only stay until activated, but in Divine Red Eclipse they remain sticky for the entire free spin bonus round, and that can add up very quickly.

You’ll need to land three of the scatters to get into the Red Eclipse round, which grants you eight free spins. Land four, five or even six of the scatters and you can get 8, 10, or 12 free spins in the Divine Red Eclipse round with the sticky Divine Frames.

Similar Games & Best Alternatives

Having recently reviewed several Hacksaw Gaming titles, there can be little doubt that much of this game’s mechanics were lifted directly from the “Le Rockey” titles, like Le Zeus and their all-new Le Santa. If you enjoy coin collecting and multiplying here, you’ll probably enjoy it at any of their almost dozen or so “Le” titles.

If Ancient Egypt is your jam, Play’n Go already has you covered with tons of titles. Ankh of Anubis is great, as is Golden Osiris. If it’s the art that has you hooked, though, we aren’t really sure of a substitute just yet.
