Peru Partners with Sportech for Online Horse Race Betting

Gambling on the internet has become popular over the last fifteen years or so but it has still been by and large underdeveloped in some potentially lucrative and sizable markets in the world. Latin America is poised to become one of those areas where change is imminent and online gambling operators are plowing through the red tape associated with any new business in places such as Peru and Mexico.

 A recent announcement by Sportech Racing and Digital, a division of pools and sports wagering operator Sportech that it had formed an arrangement with the Jockey Club del Perú to offer a fully integrated horseracing betting website in Peru is another example of operators moving forward in the Latin American jurisdiction. The firm has negotiated an expanded version of an existing arrangement which sees Sportech giving the Jockey Club del Perú and its network of retail off track betting locations parimutuel betting services via Sportech's Quantum Data Center in the USA.

While including simulcast races from the States local race offerings will come from Sportech’s G4 digital punting technology located at the the Hipódromo de Monterrico in Lima Peru. Sportech recently integrated  its Quantum System software in cooperation with Kiron Interactive to give consumers a customised G4 website, and a  Sportech Tablet for digital wagering on-track including a fixed odds Virtual Racing product offering.

Jockey Club del Perú president Luis Razzeto Ríos commented on the arrangement, “This partnership has allowed us to offer our patrons new betting opportunities and new technologies for betting, and has streamlined and strengthened our operations,”

The president of Sportech Racing and Digital, Andrew Gaughan, also commented on the deal, “Sportech is proud to extend this valued partnership with the Jockey Club del Perú, where their vision for the future of racing and gaming, combined with Sportech innovations in digital and land-based wagering, serve as an excellent template for growth in the key Latin American market.”
