According to a recent report in trade journal EGR magazine the Gamesys Group founded in 2001 has acquired Virgin Games. The value has not been disclosed but the magazine says the firm has signed a long-term deal to develop real money and social gambling propositions globally under Virgin brand.

The Virgin Games offering has been steady with updates to it web sites and additions to its gaming stable. Virgin Games was established in 2004 and offers an impressive variety of entertainment. Virgin Games offers almost everything from bingo, blackjack, roulette, to slots, and scratch cards with over 300 offerings from the top suppliers in the industry. Virgins mobile platform went live in 2011 on all devise platforms including iphone, android, and windows. Virgin poker has been around since 2005 and is part of the International Poker Network. Virgin’s example of a responsible and caring corporate entity is clear having been awarded the GamCare Certification for Remote Gambling. The exclusive report from EGR says UK-based online gambling holding Gamesys operates the UK’s leading bingo and slots website and other brands such as The Sun Bingo and Caesars Casino.

Branson was quoted as saying “We are delighted the Gamesys Group has acquired Virgin Games and formed a partnership to build a global games business. Simon Burridge and his team built a strong platform and now with the help of the Gamesys Group we can expand further internationally. We believe the Gamesys Group shares our vision and will be great partners in the sector.” The statement takes an interesting tack on the acquisition as if Virgin has taken over Gamesys Group and not the other way around. The development of the social gaming sector is a strategic move for both companies and may turn into major profits for them both. The social online mobile gambling industry is seeing some tremendous changes and those who capitalize on the trend early are bound to be winners.
