Plans To Remake The Lasseters Hotel And Casino Get Underway

The famous Lasseters Hotel and Casino will receive a new $100m makeover after Iris Capital bought the Australian land-based establishment. Having been neglected for the last few years, the hotel has fallen into disorder, with many outdated and dirty facilities. This has begun to affect their brand reputation, and Iris wants to turn the negative press around to restore one of Australia’s most iconic casinos. The project is due to start next month, and they will have to close the hotel for 5-6 months to complete the refurbishments properly.

The Lasseters hotel is one of Australia’s most iconic casino locations, not many other land-based establishments have been able to leave a lasting impact on the industry. It’s been crying out for a makeover for years now, and Iris Capital bought the property to return it to its former glory. Back in the 80s, Lasseters casino was extremely popular with locals in the Alice Springs area, a large town in Northern Australia famous for its wealth of Aboriginal culture and art.

The casino is perhaps most famous for its appearance in the 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, a comedy film written and directed by Stephen Elliot. It’s about a transgender woman and two drag performers traveling across the desert. Most of the production was shot in Alice Springs, and the Lasseters Hotel appears in the final act of the movie; the hotel includes a small museum to commemorate the film’s production. The film won an academy award for costume design and also won a BAFTA for costume and makeup.

The new owners intend to create a new residential sector around the hotel and build more living space in and around Alice Springs. They have some bold targets for the property, including increasing the number of rooms from 200 to 450 and also renovating all the leisure space on the grounds. As for the casino, the gambling hall will receive a complete makeover turning it from a rundown building into a glamorous and exciting casino. This includes new equipment such as slot machines, roulette tables and many other hardware improvements.

The CEO of Lasseters company, Craig Jervis, has said he has high hopes for the new refurbishment and hopes that the investment from Iris Capital can turn the business around. It’s not very often that a hotel will receive over $100m to rebuild the grounds, so this is a golden opportunity to restore the credibility of the Lasseters hotel. To coincide with the rebuild, they’re developing a new marketing campaign to help promote the resurgence of the hotel and advertise their new casino facilities as restrictions have been lifted.

The Future of the Lasseters Hotel

A few months ago, there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel for the Lasseters Hotel, the building was falling apart, and their customer base was quickly dwindling. Iris Capital has once again restored faith with the beginning of this project and aims to make the facilities the best Australia offers. Other casino resorts such as Crown have been bombarded with controversy, and negative press, so now is the perfect time to re-emerge into the market and make a statement through the quality of the hotel and casino.

Due to the surge in new technologies, the Lasseters owners have a chance to install some high-specification equipment and eclipse the competition with unique facilities. Other hotel resorts are constantly adapting and improving their service, and now the Alice Springs-based establishment will have to catch up with the rest of the market after years of falling behind.
