American Affiliate Generates New Depositing Customers for Sportsbooks

The Canada-based sports betting operator FansUnite Entertainment has revealed that it has secured a definitive agreement to acquire the businesses and brands of American Affiliate – a venture established by entrepreneur Chris Grove.

The sportsbook provider will pay an impressive $58.2 million to takeover American Affiliate, with the rationale behind the deal being that it would help strengthen FansUnite’s standing in the US online betting scene, as well as serve as the cornerstone of its broader US affiliate strategy.

For those confused as to what American Affiliate actually is — it is a collection of assets designed to generate new depositing customers for legal sportsbooks, online casinos, online poker websites, and other similar products in the US.

As of this writing, American Affiliate has generated over 150,000 new depositing customers for major US sportsbooks such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM PointsBet, Underdog Fantasy and WynnBet – a number not worth scoffing at.

Among its many affiliate brands, American Affiliate boasts Betting Hero, Props.com, BetPrep and Wagers.com.

Acquisition is FansUnite’s Most Significant Milestone to Date

Scott Burton, chief executive of FansUnite, welcomed the news of the American Affiliate acquisition, even going so far as to describe it as the sports betting provider’s most significant milestone to date:

“This transformative transaction will provide us further access to the lucrative US regulated sports betting and online gambling market while generating accretive, high-margin revenue, expanding our leadership team, and accelerating the growth of our company’s footprint in the global gambling market. We will now own and operate an unparalleled customer acquisition portfolio, allowing us to leverage our technology, brands, and talent to immediately capture share in the US sports betting and online gambling market.”Scott Burton, Chief Executive, FansUnite

For its part, American Affiliate’s chief executive Chris Grove emphasized how sportsbooks are spending lots of funds to attract and retain customers – a venture which American Affiliate can greatly help facilitate:

“But that success is only a starting point, we anticipate unprecedented near-term growth as legal online betting continues to expand into new states and new products,” Grove continued. “Joining with FansUnite was key to our strategy of aggressively scaling our business to meet that opportunity head-on.”Chris Grove, Chief Executive, American Affiliate

FanDuel Appoints First Canadian General Manager

Another major sportsbook operator has set its sights on the burgeoning Canadian sports betting market. In October 2021, the Flutter Entertainment-owned operator FanDuel Group revealed that it appointed Dale Hooper to the recently established position of general manager for Canada.

Part of Hooper’s many responsibilities will be to develop and execute the provider’s long-term strategy in Canada – all while keeping up to date on the nation’s regulatory and legalization processes within each province.

Prior to his arrival at FanDuel, Hooper spent several years working in the Canadian branch of the multinational professional services network Deloitte. Here, he focused in particular on Canada’s legal cannabis industry.

Amy Howe, FanDuel Group’s new chief executive, came out and praised his strong track record and respected position as an industry leader:

“Dale has a proven track record running high growth enterprises along with strong relationships that will be invaluable to our success in Canada. He is a respected leader known for his ability to scale business units effectively, a critical skill set, as we aim to bring the excitement of our sportsbook and igaming products to Canadian citizens. It’s with great excitement that I welcome him to our team.”

NCPG Also Appointed New GR in November 2021

In recent US gambling regulation news, the national advocate group for comprehensive policy advocating for problem gamblers, The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), appointed Cole Wogoman as the organization’s latest government relations manager in November.

Wogoman will continue the advocate group’s efforts and lobby for stronger problem gambling and responsible gambling measures across all local, state, and federal governments.

The NCPG’s ultimate aim is to improve American society’s health and wellness by minimizing the personal, social and economic costs caused by problem gambling. The council has been active since 2005.
