Tipico is Landing in Indiana and Iowa

Midwestern players rejoice: Tipico has announced that it has landed an exclusive deal with Caesars Entertainment. Part of the agreement will enable the German operator to gain access to Indiana and Iowa’s mobile betting markets, with the window being open to expand into additional states down the line.

Tipico Will Operate in Indiana Under Already-Existing Master License

Major German sportsbook operator Tipico has signed a deal together with world-renowned casinos operator Caesars Entertainment in which it will gain access to Indiana and Iowa’s mobile betting markets. There is also scope moving forward for the operator to move into additional states.

In Indiana specifically, Tipico will be running its sports betting operation under a master license currently held by Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, while in Iowa it will operate on Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf’s license.

Chief Executive of Tipico US, Adrian Vella, expressed the brand’s excitement in leaving its footprint on the American Midwest:

“We are excited to announce Tipico’s multi-state market access partnership with Caesars Entertainment, which marks an important step as we continue to expand our US footprint. We look forward to establishing our brand presence in the Midwest, and introducing our highly scalable, proprietary multi-state sports betting experience to players in Indiana and Iowa.”Adrian Vella, Chief Executive, Tipico US

Exclusive Market Access Deal to Last for 10 Years

As part of its exclusive market access deal with Caesars Entertainment, Tipico will only enjoy access to online casino gaming in states where this form of gambling is even permitted in the first place.

In January 2021, Indiana lawmakers introduced a proposal to finally legalize online gambling in the state — however it has been stuck in committee limbo for the past seven months. Luckily for Tipico, its deal with Caesars is set to last for the next 10 years, upon which it will likely be renewed for yet another decade.

Tipico Vice President of Business Development and Strategy Stephen Krombolz identified Iowa and Indiana as key states for the operator’s expansion plans in the near future, hinting at even more similar announcements arriving later this year:

“This new market access agreement with Caesars Entertainment is another exciting step forward for Tipico as we continue to connect with more US bettors. Indiana and Iowa are key states in our early expansion plans but there is certainly more to come, and we look forward to announcing additional partnerships later this year.”Stephen Krombolz, Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, Tipico US

In terms of timing, Tipico aims to launch in Iowa during Q4 of 2021. Indiana sports bettors will have to wait a bit longer — until the first quarter of 2022. Once everything becomes finalized, the two states will join Colorado and New Jersey as part of the German operator’s slowly growing US network.

Tipico US Now in Partnership with USA Today Owner Gannett

More major news for Tipico’s US division arrived just recently in August 2021, when it was revealed that American mass media holding company Gannett Co., which owns the highly influential USA Today network, signed an agreement with the sportsbook and gaming operator.

Tipico has a large role to fulfill as part of this momentous deal, as it is expected to become the exclusive sports betting and online gambling provider for Gannett. Not only that, but it will also replace the mass media empire’s previous relationship with MGM-Entain joint group venture BetMGM.

Tipico US’ Stephen Krombolz characterized the operator’s partnership with Gannett Co. as crucial for the German operator’s future in the United States:

“These assets will serve as a key component of our North American marketing strategy, driving awareness of the Tipico brand and our products among Gannett’s millions of readers, viewers and listeners – ultimately delivering fantastic acquisition and retention opportunities as we prepare to scale rapidly in the US.”

Indiana Welcomes Barstool Sportsbook Back in May 2021

Earlier this year, in May 2021, the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) announced its much-anticipated approval of operator Penn National Gaming’s application to run mobile gaming in the state via the increasingly popular Barstool Sportsbook application.

Indiana sports bettors have been enjoying Penn National’s Kambi-powered apps since May 18th, 2021, which are currently available across the usual mobile storefronts such as iOS, Android — and even desktop devices.

Barstool is slowly but surely becoming a household name across the American Midwest, with offerings already active in states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Illinois. Virginia is also set to join these ranks in the very near future.

Penn National President and Chief Executive Jay Snowden was more than happy to welcome the launch of Barstool Sportsbook, which conveniently arrived just in time ahead of this year’s NBA playoffs: “We are thrilled to be launching our online Barstool Sportsbook in Indiana at the start of the NBA’s new playoff format.”
