Penn National Will Promote Campaign on Barstool Sportsbook

The highly lucrative and popular sportsbook operator Penn National Gaming (PNG) has become the latest to throw its weight behind the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) ‘Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly’ public service campaign.

First launched this past September 2021, the ‘Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly’ campaign is in fact an extension of the ‘Have A Game Plan’ project that initially went live in late 2019, with the goal of educating sports fans on the subject of responsible sports betting.

Four principles make up the core of the campaign’s focus: responsible wagering, such as setting a budget and sticking to it, keeping betting social, knowing the odds, and only playing with trusted, regulated operators.

As part of its agreement with the American Gaming Association (AGA), Penn National Gaming will promote ‘Have A Game Plan’ responsible sports betting content on its Barstool Sportsbook digital platforms and social media accounts. It will also activate ‘Have A Game Plan’ in all of its land-based, retail sportsbook locations across the United States.

Penn National’s Expansive Footprint Will Boost Campaign Awareness

Head of interactive over at Penn National Gaming, Jon Kaplowitz, emphasized how responsible gaming is at the center of Penn’s overall ethos, reiterating that its customers are first and foremost sports fans, making this campaign all the more necessary in educating them:

“Responsible gaming is core to our sports betting operations, and we’re thrilled to extend these efforts through our partnership with the AGA’s Have A Game Plan initiative. Our customers are sports fans first, and this campaign will allow us to educate everyone, whether they are new to sports betting or seasoned bettors, on how to wager responsibly in a fan-friendly way.”Jon Kaplowitz, Head of Interactive, Penn National Gaming (PNG)

The American Gaming Association’s senior vice president Casey Clark added that Penn National’s wide reach will certainly be a boon to the campaign’s overall reach:

“Penn National’s expansive digital and land-based footprint will amplify our Have A Game Plan campaign to consumers across the country. We are appreciative of Penn National’s significant commitment to the campaign as we collectively work to ensure every sports bettor is equipped with the knowledge to wager responsibly.”Casey Clark, Senior Vice President, American Gaming Association (AGA)

Madison Square Garden Backed Campaign in December 2021

Back in December 2021, two divisions of the venue Madison Square Garden, Madison Square Garden Sports (MSG Sports) and Madison Square Garden Entertainment (MSG Entertainment), announced that they were also supporting the AGA’s ‘Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly’ campaign.

Both divisions will use in-arena advertisements to help promote the campaign. They will also turn to digital media with the help of National Basketball Association (NBA) team the New York Knicks and National Hockey League (NHL) franchise the New York Rangers, as well as promote the campaign on-air through the MSG Network.

Executive vice president of marketing partnerships at MSG Entertainment, Ron Skotarczak, highlighted the continued growth of legal sports gaming in the tri-state area as a reason to continue promoting safer gambling:

“With the continued growth of legal sports gaming throughout the tri-state area, it’s a priority for MSG Sports and MSG Entertainment to ensure that fans and viewers have access to educational resources on how to wager responsibly. Providing a platform to amplify Have A Game Plan is essential to our strategy and supporting future growth in this industry.”
