Galera.bet To Sponsor São Paulo, Brazil Carnival 2024

Sports betting houses are not only getting behind major teams in Brazil, but also cultural institutions like Carnival. Brazilians experience several carnival-related events across the country every year. This year, the company Galera.bet has agreed to participate with the São Paulo Carnival again in 2024 after having already sponsored various events this year.

Galera.bet’s ongoing partnership with Carnival

While Brazil’s government refines its betting regulations, particularly around the controversial area of online sports betting, betting houses like Galera.bet have already made contracts to sponsor events and teams. Though soccer is one of the most popular sports for betting — and for sponsorship — these companies aren’t only interested in sports partnerships.

Events with worldwide appeal, and which also attract huge crowds and major investment, are also interesting for such companies. Galera.bet has proven this by once again participating in Brazilian Carnival with a partnership agreement with the Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba, or LIESA.

The partnership cements their work together for four years, starting with 2024’s Carnival, due to occur in February. Galera.bet’s CEO, Marcos Sabiá, stated that the company feels the event is a great fit due to the emphasis on celebration and joyfulness it imbues.

Likewise, according to Sabiá, Galera.bet’s purpose is to entertain. He believes, therefore, the São Paulo Carnival is a perfect place to showcase Galera.bet and celebrate the work of the community that comes together to create the festivals every year.

Galera.bet has already been involved with Carnival for some time. This year, it displayed its logo at the Bar Brahma Cabin in São Paulo’s Anhembi Sambódromo, as well as in Bahia’s the Brahma Salvador Cabin. These are two of seven popular Brazilian Carnival celebrations, all occurring at the same time of year.

Galera.bet and sports sponsorships

Galera.bet can also be seen on sports fields across Brazil. The company sponsors both the Men’s and Women’s Series A Championship of soccer in the country. They are partners with CBF, the Brazilian Football Confederation, and CBB, the Brazilian Basketball Confederation. They also support Brazil’s Basketball Circuit and the official Galera.bet Basketball Circuit.

Unfortunately, it has not all been smooth-sailing. Amidst questions about the legality of such sports sponsorships and how they might change in the face of Brazil’s regulation of sports betting, Galera.bet has dealt with other issues connected to its deals.

The company recently started a lawsuit against its partner CBF. It claims that CBF did not abide by the contract the company had signed. The contract had an exclusivity clause which the company alleges CBF did not uphold in announcing the tournament. The contract also called for the usage of specific iconography throughout the event.

The lawsuit seeks to prevent CBF from allowing other sports betting companies to be featured on Series A events, which occurred during the most recent tournament in later games. The results of the case have not yet been determined.

Meanwhile, another case stands to change the face of sports betting in Brazil. The Operation Maximum II trial continues, having implicated several betting houses and athletes in its initial requests for interviews.

The case constitutes a major red mark against efforts to ensure integrity in sports in the face of regulated gaming. The court is also keen to use this as an example and seek swift punishment of guilty parties in order to discourage other similar events from happening.
