Genius Will Make Use of Machine Learning-Powered Live Streaming Technology

Major sports data technology provider Genius Sports and the National Football League (NFL) have both revealed that they have entered into an exclusive Canadian video streaming licensing agreement with three noteworthy Canadian sportsbook operators – Bet365, Canada-facing Bet99 and the esports-focused Rivalry.

All three sportsbook providers – Bet365, Bet99, and Rivalry – will now receive the ability to provide their customers with video streams of all regular and post-season NFL matches thanks to the power of Genius’s Watch & Bet solution.

Back in April 2021, Genius Sports gained the converted title of becoming the exclusive distributor of NFL data and live video feeds. In return, Genius granted 22.5 million warrants to the NFL. The expert in sports data also revealed that it will use machine learning-powered live streaming technologies to facilitate video streaming and bet tracking for players in Canada.

Speaking on the occasion of Genius and the NFL announcing its partnership with three major Canadian sportsbook brands, Genius CEO Mark Locke asserted that the company was highly pleased with the recent developments, promising all three operators that they will flourish in the Canadian sports betting market thanks to Genius’ innovative technology solutions:

“We are delighted that the NFL has broadened its partnership with Genius Sports to become the exclusive provider of official data and live streaming content for sportsbooks across Canada. We connect the global sports ecosystem through cutting-edge data technology, and our official solutions will help Bet365, Bet99 and Rivalry to thrive in the newly legalised Canadian market.”Mark Locke, Chief Executive Officer, Genius Sports, Press Release

Genius Sports Experienced Highly Encouraging Revenue Growth in Q3 2022

It’s been a pretty solid year for sports data provider Genius Sports, with the company also recently releasing its financial report for the third quarter of the year (Q3 2022), in which it was revealed that the business experienced revenue growth of 28% year-on-year in constant currency.

The business has its ongoing North American expansion to thank for such growth, with the venture bringing in adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) profitability, compared to a $392,000 loss Genius experienced in the previous year.

In a statement on the matter, company CEO Mark Locke boasted the business’s strength of execution in its core verticals as the main driving factor behind the results.

Genius Partnered Together with Canadian Football League (CFL) in December 2021

Football has been in the sights of Genius Sports for quite some time now, with the data provider announcing all the way back in December 2021 that it was entering into a long-term partnership with the Canadian Football League (CFL).

The coveted deal came into effect shortly thereafter, in January 2022, with Genius earning the exclusive rights to commercialize the CFL’s official data worldwide and video content with sportsbooks in international markets.

Furthermore, as part of the deal, Genius Sports also gained the ability to acquire a minority stake in CFL Ventures – the Canadian Football League’s new commercial arm. In return for this privilege, Genius promised to boost the CFL’s digital infrastructure with the support of its many recent acquisitions.

Canadian Football League (CFL) commissioner Randy Ambrosie elevated the whole deal with Genius Sports beyond being just simply a marketing deal – instead positioning it as a whole new way for the football league to engage with its fans:

“Our partnership with Genius Sports has the potential to launch a new era for the CFL. It provides access to the technology and tools we need to engage our existing fans, and reach new ones, in exciting, innovative and highly customized ways. This goes beyond transforming our marketing. It can redefine our relationship with fans, partners and other key stakeholders, here in Canada and globally.”Randy Ambrosie, Commissioner, Canadian Football League (CFL), Press Release

BetMGM Joined Together with NFL Canada in August 2022

Another prominent sportsbook operator which has stepped into the ring of Canadian football is BetMGM, who just recently in August 2022 announced a deal with the National Football League (NFL) in the Canadian province of Ontario, one which will see it become its official sportsbook partner.

BetMGM, which is a joint project between both Entain and MGM, was in fact one of the first few operators to launch in the province, having its license granted to it by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) upon the market first opening on April 4th, 2022.

BetMGM chief executive Adam Greenblatt expected the deal to open up many new exciting opportunities for the operator in the region:

“Expanding our partnership with the NFL into Canada sets the stage for amazing opportunities as we begin the upcoming football season. We’re already seeing great interest from our Ontario customers and this collaboration truly elevates the BetMGM experience.”
