Genius Sports and NFL Deepened Partnership in December 2022

In other recent Genius Sports developments, the data provider revealed in December 2022 that it would be broadening its long-running partnership with the National Football League (NFL), resulting in US football fans being able to view and bet on select games.

To achieve this, Genius chose to make use of its Watch & Bet service and expanded its live video betting offerings to major sports wagering operators in the US. Genius really gained the upper hand here when the NFL designated it as its exclusive worldwide distributor of real-time official play-by-play statistics back in April 2021.

Caesars Entertainment became the first operator to take advantage of the enticing new offering. Its broad fanbase promptly received the privilege to place bets on regular season and post-season games through the ease and comfort of their own mobile phones and tablets.

Genius Sports chief executive Mark Locke guaranteed the prospect of the most engaging sports betting experience for sports betting fans:

“In our expanded agreement with the NFL and Caesars Entertainment, Genius Sports has created a unique solution that combines our exclusive official NFL data with live streaming content to deliver the most compelling sports betting experience available across the US. Accelerated by our long-term NFL partnership, Genius Sports continues to go from strength to strength as our innovative products enable our customers to grow their product offering and increase market share across North America.”Mark Locke, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Genius Sports,Press Release

Caesars Digital president Eric Hession raved about the Watch & Bet video streaming service, feeling pride for being the first operator in the US to roll out the feature:

“The addition of live Watch & Bet video streaming brings the best that the NFL has to offer right into the Caesars Sportsbook app. Delivering innovative technology like this remains a key emphasis for us, so being the first US sportsbook to provide customers with in-app NFL live streaming isn’t something we take lightly. We’re thankful to bring an industry-leading new feature to our sports wagering app through our partnership with Genius Sports and the NFL.”Eric Hession, President, Caesars Digital,Press Release

Genius Sports and Canadian Football League (CFL) First Partnered Together Back in December 2021

The genesis of Genius Sports’ and the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) relationship dates all the way back to December 2021, when the data provider announced that it was stepping into a long-term partnership with the renowned football league.

The deal set the stage for Genius earning the exclusive rights to commercialize the CFL’s official data worldwide and video content with sportsbooks in international markets. Genius was also offered the choice of taking on a minority stake in CFL Ventures, which is the Canadian Football League’s commercial arm.

Canadian Football League (CFL) commissioner Randy Ambrosie positioned the deal between the two as much more than simply a marketing deal, pitching it as a whole new way for the league to interact with its fans:

“Our partnership with Genius Sports has the potential to launch a new era for the CFL. It provides access to the technology and tools we need to engage our existing fans, and reach new ones, in exciting, innovative and highly customized ways. This goes beyond transforming our marketing. It can redefine our relationship with fans, partners and other key stakeholders, here in Canada and globally.”

Genius Sports chief executive Mark Locke saw the sports data technology provider as establishing an entirely new standard for sports betting partnerships:

“By providing the CFL with an incredible range of sports technology solutions, Genius Sports is setting a new precedent for sports partnerships. Together, we will revolutionize the entire CFL product, delivering truly immersive experiences for their existing fans and attracting new audiences who crave year-round, top-flight football action.”
