Collector Reel Mechanic

Fishing Pro Reel Collect removes traditional paylines and replaces them with a top-row Collector Reel that determines how and what you can catch, a feature we hadn’t seen before.

Depending on the symbol (Rod, Pot, Net, or Trawler), it collects corresponding fish or lobsters beneath it for instant payouts. Some collectors affect one reel; others will span multiple reels.

The Trawler is the most powerful symbol and can collect all prize symbols, which only makes sense. If your haul includes jackpot Mermaids, you can win up to 2,000x.

Progression Unlocks More Features

Scatters gradually fill a progress bar, unlocking new game levels. In the first level, you will find yellow collectors that can grab any prize.

Then in level two, you get the important Bait, which adds prize symbols, and then Bombs, which make the prizes so you can collect them. Level three expands our playing grid from 5×3 to 5×4.

These levels stay unlocked for the entirety of your play, which will reward longer playing sessions.

Free Spin and Multipliers

Importantly, three Scatter symbols, helpfully labeled Scatter, but what appears to be a tackle box, landed on the collector row will get you 10 Free Spins. And even more importantly, the three progression levels are all unlocked during this trigger.

Once you’ve collected four trawlers to build out your fleet during that bonus, you’ll get another ten spins, and multiplier goes up. 4 trawlers is 2x, 8 trawlers 3x and 12 trawlers maxes you out at 10x.

That would mean up to 40 free spins and a big win if you can land a mermaid jackpot under one of the trawlers, especially later in the game as you’ve built up multipliers.

Buy Feautures

Like many of Gaming Corps slots, you can bypass all that grinding and buy your way into the bonus round. However, this is no Snoop’s High Rollers, which is a shame, because that is a Gaming Corps classic.

No Super High Bonus Buy is available, but you have the option of the 100x your bet on standard free spins, then the 400x bet for Super Spins and an added 10x multiplier. Such multipliers can rarely be seen at other online slot games.

Other possible purchase upgrades include the Hot Bet which doubles your chances of free spins. Unlock All Features which will immediately unlock all levels in the base game instead of waiting to fill the progress bar, and our favorite The Mermaid Hunt which guarantees those elusive mermaids will make an appearance.

This means that no matter what your betting level is, you can customize the hit frequency of the game. Though not its ultimate RTP, volatility remains quite high.

Final Thoughts

The Collector Reel system is innovative, and we enjoyed it once we got the hang of it. Unlocking the larger grid kept us playing longer, and with all the Trawlers, Mermaids, and crustaceans popping up, the free spins felt like they offered a chance to hit some decent scores.

The Bomb and Bait features are unlocked in level two.

But, sadly, the game does feel a bit like you’ve been here before, not exactly covering new ground in the fishing genre. Still, if you have some extra time to play, enjoy Gaming Corps’ take on being able to buy bonuses and features and enjoy a vibrant underwater vista, Fishing Pro Reel Collect deserves some of your time.
