Microgaming – New Game of Thrones Slot Released

Isle of Man based software provider Microgaming has unveiled its latest online slot, which is sure to be one of this year’s biggest hits. It has collaborated with Slingshot Studios to produce “Game of Thrones Power Stacks”, the latest online slot to be licensed in the brand franchise.

Stacked Wins and Free Spins

While Game of Thrones has long since finished, it will always be remembered as one of the most dramatic and adventurous fantasy programs to air on our screens. Now fans of the cult TV series, as well as the novels, can relive the immersive stories in Microgaming’s new slot release.

“Game of Thrones Power Stacks” features all of the hit show’s most famous characters, including Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, the Night King and Tormund Giantsbane. Players are taken back to the lands of Westeros, where the vicious power struggle for the Iron Throne takes place.

The game is laid out on five reels and features forty paylines. The titular Power Stacks feature ups the ante of the game, and is available throughout, including during free spins. With every spin that takes place, the Power Stacks indicator reveals a new symbol that could land super stacked. That means that this special feature could offer players even more opportunities to win.

Players can receive fifteen free spins if they manage to land three simultaneous scatters. The free spins round will transport them to the foot of the Iron Throne itself, where the thundering theme tune brings the slot’s atmosphere to life. As a bonus, the free spins round also features wild symbols stacked on each reel with all wins doubled.

This game also boasts another worthwhile bonus feature, the Link&Win mechanism. This is triggered by landing six or more coin symbols, which then lock into place. That allows all other symbols to spin out independently for three more respins. Respins can be triggered again by additional landed coins, and once the feature has ended all coin symbols pay out.

Players have the opportunity to win the lucrative Valyrian prize, by landing a full screen of coin symbols. The prize is worth 2,500x the total bet in the base game, increasing to 5,000x the total bet in the free spins round. Special features like these make this a game worth taking the time to play.

While it is sure to attract fans of the Game of Thrones franchise, its great features, sleek graphics and exciting ambiance mean that this new slot can be enjoyed by anyone. “Game of Thrones Power Stacks” boasts a potential win value of up to 25,000x, making it one of the most hotly awaited slot releases this month.

The title went live on August 10th, exclusively to operators on the Microgaming platform. One of those most excited to unveil the new game was Microgaming’s very own Director of Games, Andrew Booth. Announcing the title, Booth said:

“We’re thrilled to add another Game of Thrones™ slot to our legendary offering with the inclusion of the new Power Stacks™. Combine that with the Link&Win™ feature and atmospheric sounds, players are sure to pledge their allegiance to House Stark, House Targaryen, House Lannister or House Greyjoy.”

Over the last twenty years, Microgaming has built up a reputation for producing some of the industry’s most innovative, immersive and highest quality slots on the market. That is in part thanks to its own expert team, as well as its tried and tested strategy of cherry-picking the best independent game builders.

Microgaming is now renowned for its studio collaborations, as the creation of “Game of Thrones Power Stacks” exemplifies. For this title, it worked with Slingshot Studios, a collective founded in 2016. Bringing together illustrators, animators and game developers, Slingshot Studios has now created a number of exclusive games especially for Microgaming.

A Global Phenomenon

Other games produced by Slingshot Studios include “African Legends”, “A Dark Matter”, “Banana Odyssey”, “Zombie Hoard” and “Cash of Kingdoms”. “Game of Thrones Power Stacks” is the first officially licensed franchise game to come out of Slingshot Studios, and is the studio’s biggest title to date.

As well as working closely with Microgaming on the project, the studio also partnered with American TV network and home of the Game of Thrones franchise, HBO. The studio is proud to have worked on such a big project, which is expected to be enjoyed by players all over the world. Head of Studio at Slingshot, Richard Vermaak spoke on behalf of his team, stating:

“As a fan of this iconic brand, I’m very excited for players to experience Game of Thrones™ Power Stacks™. I hope this slot fills a hole for those missing each nail-biting episode to see what happens to their favorite characters, with Drogon making an appearance when a big win occurs!”

This is not the first Game of Thrones slot to be released by Microgaming. In 2014, the software producer unveiled a franchised title with fifteen lines and 243 ways to win. At that point, season four had just aired and the show was already a global phenomenon. Game of Thrones lasted for eight seasons in total, drawing to its dramatic finale in 2019.

In fact, the final episode was watched 19.3 million viewers across HBO platforms. The series as a whole was recognized with hundreds of award nominations and wins, including 160 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and 59 wins. It also received seven Golden Globe Award nominations, winning one.

The Game of Thrones series might have reached its conclusion, but the world of Westeros has not left our screens for good. HBO reportedly has a number of spin-offs in the pipeline, one of which could air next year. House of the Dragon takes place in the same universe, albeit 300 years earlier, and boasts a star-studded cast, including Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans.
