CT Gaming Interactive Is Coming to Colombia

Earlier this month, international gambling industry heavy-hitter CT Gaming Interactive secured a coveted license to operate online gambling in Colombia. Soon, online gamblers in Colombia will be able to access the wide catalog of popular CT Gaming Interactive offerings, which have already been available in markets in countries including the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Malta, Romania, Croatia, and Latvia. This is not the first time CT Gaming Interactive has been made available to players in Latin America.

In the last year, CT Gaming Interactive has steadily grown its presence in Latin America. In March of this year, just as the coronavirus pandemic was spreading around the world, CT Gaming Interactive announced a partnership with Inkabet, a sports betting and gambling operator based in Peru.

Shortly after, CT Gaming continued its expansion into Peru via a partnership with Apuesta Total, one of the most popular gaming providers in the country. In addition to meaning great wins across Peru’s gambling sector, these back-to-back partnerships signified how seriously CT Gaming Interactive was taking the promise of the gambling industry in Peru.

Then, CT Gaming Interactive announced its move into another Latin American country: this time, Mexico, via a partnership with Logrand Entertainment Group, a casino operator with businesses across the country and exciting iGaming options via its website, Strendus.

CT Gaming Interactive in Colombia

In mid-August, 2020, CT Gaming Interactive announced that it had secured a license to operate in Colombia, quickly becoming one of Latin America’s leading gambling markets — if not the leading one. This means that CT Gaming Interactive’s huge portfolio of games will now be available to iGamers in Colombia, of which there are many.

As of now, CT Gaming Interactive General Manager Lachezar Petrov has remained cagey on the details, but has assured publicly that the company is currently in talks to offer its portfolio of both games, slot machines, and trademarked software via one of Colombia’s best-known gaming operators.

The Mystery Operator: Who Could It Be?

In the last year alone, some of the biggest names in international gambling have branched into Colombia, including Zitro, which recently built a second headquarters in Colombian capital Bogotá, as well as Codere, which partnered with Colombian company Habanero in February of this year. Any of these companies could be CT Gaming’s new partner.

Colombia: Ahead of the Curve In Regulated iGaming

As the coronavirus pandemic has continued to devastate international economies, several countries in Latin America which have historically been reluctant to take the leap into regulated iGaming are now beginning to seriously consider, and in some cases, make steps towards, a licensing process for legal online gambling.

This includes countries like Brazil and Argentina, two of Latin America’s largest economies, which have repeatedly done frustrating back-and-forth decisions in the realm of legal gambling. During this time, Colombia has managed to be the dark horse, speeding to the front of Latin America’s gambling industry.

In 2016, Colombia was the first country in Latin America to legalize online gambling, with the provision that operators need to be issued state-sanctioned licenses. In the first two years, close to twenty licenses were issued by the country, and state gambling authorities cracked down on any operators offering services in Colombia without licenses.

In the time since legalizing regulated online gambling, Colombia has demonstrated that the iGaming sector has brought in anticipated additional revenue, and then some. In 2019, before the coronavirus or the ensuing emphasis on building robust online offerings came into anyone’s mind, Colombia’s iGaming sector grew 83% from the year before.

Now, due to mandated international lockdowns and strict social distancing guidelines which have devastated global casino revenue, the international gambling market has worked hard to pivot to online offerings. Because of this, Colombia has once again proven itself ahead of the curve in what will prove to be an increasingly lucrative trend.
