Delasport to Operate in Danish Market

Following the acquisition of new GLI accreditation, Delasport announces that it will be providing its online casino, player account management (PAM), and sports betting solutions in the Danish market. The GLI Danish iGaming and sportsbook certification allows Delasport, an iGaming solutions provider, to offer sports betting and online casino to Danish operating partners. GLI certification comes from its independent testing and inspection of electronic gaming. It ensures compliance with the individual requirements of 480 gambling jurisdictions around the world.

Another step in worldwide growth for Delaport

Delasport has a strategy of market availability and its entry into the Danish market is another step forward for it. The company continues to rapidly grow on a worldwide scale and this allows its existing partners to get market access. At the same time, it is also onboarding new partners. It was established in 2010 and delivers a one-stop-shop solution for sports betting and online casino platforms. They have expertise in risk management and sports which gives their partners complete solutions including white-label and turnkey products. They have multiple branches and operate in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.

Delasport has some unique robust features. These include a bet-builder, partial and full cash-out and a personal trader. There is the ability to speak with a trader too. They offer quick bet suggestions and personalization options including geolocation and favorites. These are integrated with intelligent gamification tools such as multiplayer tournaments, badges, missions, and other features.

Malta Gaming Authority

Back in February this year, Delasport secured a license from the Malta Gaming Authority. They secured the MGA B2B class 1 for Casino and class 2 for Sports. Oren Cohen Shwartz described it as an

“important milestone”

.

The MGA license acquisition followed several other key regulatory milestones in the past few months. In August 2021 the company successfully obtained a Class 2 Romanian license for sports betting and online casino. It has also received the necessary GLI19 and GL133 certificates which enabled it to bring all its iGaming services to the North American and Latin American markets.

Danish Gambling Authority

This latest news means that Delasports products will now fall under the regulation of the Danish Gambling Authority. The DGA is responsible for overseeing and regulating all forms of gambling in the Danish market. In general, Denmark has some of the most liberal laws in Europe when it comes to gambling. It also runs the registry of self-excluded people called ROFUS.

After the online casino industry underwent massive expansion in 2012, it became the dominant force in the casino market and they have surpassed land-based casinos profit-wise. Lotteries are still the biggest segment of the market.

Danish Gambling Results for 2021

Earlier this month the DGA – Spillemyndigheden – reported that gambling spend in Denmark fell in Q4 2021 compared to 2020. Data from their quarterly statistics show that the total Gross Gambling Revenue for betting, online casino, gaming machines, and land-based casinos was DKK 1,669 million in Q4. This is a fall of 3.9% or DKK 67 million, from the previous year.

Sports betting is the only one of the four gambling sectors that saw a fall in GGR in Q4 2021. In the fourth quarter of the year, the GGR totalled DKK 593 million, which is a year-on-year fall of DKK 133 million. In percentage terms, this is a fall of 18.3%. The fall in the sports betting sector is not counterbalanced by increases in GGR for online casinos, gaming machines, and land-based casinos. In Q4 2021, these sectors saw year-on-year growth of the GGR of 7.2%, 0.9%, and 21.9%, respectively.

Land-based gambling was affected in 2021 by lockdowns and other Covid-19 measures. These lasted longer in 2021 than they had in 2020 after all land-based casinos, restaurants and gaming halls had to close from December 9th 2020 in an attempt to combat surges in case numbers. GGR for gaming machines fell by 23.8% and land-based casinos by 8.5%. GGR for sports betting saw a year-on-year increase of DKK 76 million in 2021. Unlike 2020 sports events were not cancelled or postponed and so they were not adversely affected. The GGR for online casinos increased by DKK 284 million from 2020 to 2021. This is a percentage increase of 11.2%. Overall across the four gambling sectors, the market grew by 1.6% compared to 2020 – an increase of DKK 101 million.
