NBA Gained Equity Stake in Sportradar in November 2021

Just recently in November 2021, Sportradar announced a similar landmark partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA), with the key difference being that the NBA would as a result be able to receive warrants to purchase 3% of the outstanding shares in Sportradar for $0.01 per share.

Sportradar’s role following the deal will see it become both the authorized global distributor of official NBA and WNBA betting data, as well as the distributor of live game video. The deal is an extension of a partnership between the two which began in 2016.

Senior vice president, head of gaming and new business ventures at the NBA Scott Kaufman-Ross came out and praised Sportradar’s supplying of market data, describing it as a “terrific partner,”

“Sportradar has been a terrific partner as the league has navigated its exploration into the global sports betting landscape. As the market matures, we are thrilled to extend our partnership with Sportradar to utilize data and insights to create new fan experiences and innovate around the NBA globally.”

PointsBet Appointed Safer Gambling Lead in June

Back in June 2021, PointsBet announced Teresa Fiore as the new manager of its responsible service of gambling and corporate social responsibility programs, who holds five years’ experience in the safer gambling world.

Prior to joining PointsBet, Fiore worked at the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, where she was in charge of the state’s GameSense responsible gaming program, serving over 300,000 players each year across The Bay State.

According to Fiore, safe and responsible gambling measures are now more important than ever:
