Training Wear Sponsor

AstroPay has added yet another acclaimed English football club to its roster of partners midway through the season. Premier League side Crystal Palace has signed a high-profile sponsorship deal with the popular online payment service. The agreement will see AstroPay’s logo and branding featured prominently on the club’s training wear.

AstroPay will benefit from LED advertising space at Selhurst Park, the club’s home ground, every matchday. Crystal Palace has also agreed to include AstroPay across its social media platforms, where it interacts with its loyal fanbase. AstroPay branding will also feature on the club’s popular PalaceTV content series, “Copers Cope TV”. The series offers fans exclusive footage of the club’s training sessions.

Neither the length or cost of the deal has been disclosed, although both parties are optimistic that the partnership will prove beneficial. Commercial Director of Crystal Palace FC, Barry Weber, was pleased to name AstroPay as the club’s newest sponsor. According to Webber:

“We are thrilled to be able to announce a partnership with a brand as globally recognized as AstroPay. AstroPay has a long history of success in the payment solutions sector, and we look forward to working with them during the remainder of the season.”

The partnership presents AstroPay with an exciting opportunity to strengthen its brand recognition in the UK, having expanded into European markets last year. As a Premier League club, Crystal Palace will help to expose AstroPay to new customers in the UK and abroad. Crystal Palace is currently ranked in thirteenth place out of twenty clubs in the league.

Global Fanbase

The Premier League is the most-watched football league in the world, attracting a potential TV audience of up to 4.7 billion people. It is broadcast in 212 territories to 643 million homes. CEO of AstroPay, Mikael Lijtenstein, was happy to announce that his firm had been named the club’s new official training wear sponsor. Speaking to press, Lijtenstein said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Crystal Palace FC, a Premier League football team that has over 160 years of professional experience. This is an exciting partnership with one of England’s most well-known footballing institutions and we look forward to working together hopefully for many seasons to come.”

AstroPay is already the official sleeve sponsor for another of the Premier League’s best-loved clubs, Burnley FC. Its relationship with the club started in 2018, when it sponsored it for that season. The pair went their separate ways the following two seasons, but reunited for the 2021-22 season. It is now Burnley’s official payment service partner, as well as the front of shirt sponsor for the women’s side.

The London-based firm has also collaborated with Newcastle United FC. It became the Magpies’ official payment solutions partner last September, benefitting from branding on pitch side LED displays during Premier League matches. Last October, AstroPay also signed a deal with Sri Lanka cricket, to sponsor the national cricket team for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

AstroPay was founded in 2009, and has since grown to become a leading online payment service. Its app utilizes more than 200 payment methods, including Google Pay, Visa and Mastercard. Customers around the world favor AstroPay when making online purchases on international sites. AstroPay also helps merchants to access markets easily and securely.

New Crypto Offering

AstroPay serves more than five million users worldwide, alongside 500 merchants, in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Its achievements were recognized at the SBC Awards Latinoamérica 2021, where its app was shortlisted for Payment Solution of the Year. It has also been shortlisted for the Global Gaming Awards 2022, in the Payment Solution of the Year category.

To complement its payment solution, AstroPay recently launched its debut cryptocurrency offering, allowing its users to buy and sell crypto via its app. It boasts that its offering is cost-effective, as customers can trade their currencies without having to pay extra fees. AstroPay has already been operating with cryptocurrencies for two years, but this latest step will allow its users to trade digital assets for the first time.

AstroPay hopes to target younger users through this offering, who it claims are more inclined to trade cryptocurrencies as they are “digital natives”. The rise of crypto seems set to continue and AstroPay predicts that the sector presents a golden opportunity.

Its new crypto offering will help AstroPay to reach a wider range of users than ever before. At the moment, the option is only available in a select number of emerging markets. However, there are plans to roll the offering out further. Announcing the news at the start of February, AstroPay CEO Mikael Lijtenstein said:

“The launch is testament to the business’ commitment to continue supporting merchants and users by adopting the latest technological innovations. The cryptocurrency market’s size has expanded exponentially since Bitcoin was launched a few years ago and we believe the sector is poised for further exponential growth, especially driven by the new Web 3.”
