Five-Day Trial Period Begins on January 24th, 2021

The prominent full-stack esports and online gambling provider, Esports Entertainment Group, has announced that it has received the necessary approval from New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement in order for it to start accepting bets in the Garden State.

The state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement granted the operator a transactional waiver, thereby enabling it to begin its betting operations. This decision is quite symbolic, seeing as it marks the first time an esports operator has ever received a transactional waiver in the state of New Jersey.

Esports Entertainment Group’s next moves will look as follows: it will begin accepting bets on its VIE.gg betting platform, but only after an initial five-day “soft play” trial period is over. This period began on January 24th, 2021.

Esports Entertainment Group Touts Growing Popularity of Esports Worldwide

The CEO of Esports Entertainment Group, Grant Johnson, expressed the operator’s gratitude at being selected as the first esports-dedicated provider allowed to provide its betting services in the state of New Jersey:

“We couldn’t be more pleased to be the first esports-dedicated operator to be granted the right to commence business in New Jersey. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to thank the Division of Gaming Enforcement for their approval of our platform and the trust they have placed in our company.”Grant Johnson, Chief Executive Officer, Esports Entertainment Group

It’s been an active time for Esports Entertainment Group as of late. Last year in 2021, the full-stack esports and online gambling operator finalized partnerships with several notable sports teams in the United States, including the likes of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Indianapolis Colts.

In his statement on the news, Johnson emphasized the growing popularity and success of the esports industry in the United States, claiming the company was excited to be a participant in an ever-growing market:

“Global esports betting is estimated to exceed $205bn by 2027, and we are thrilled to be playing such an important role in this fast-growing market with the launch of our first esports wagering offering in the US.”

EEG Partnered with Indianapolis Colts in September 2021

As previously mentioned, Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) announced in September 2021 that it would be partnering together with the leading NFL franchise the Indianapolis Colts in an exclusive multi-year agreement.

The specifics of the deal will see Esports Entertainment act as the official esports tournament platform provider for the Colts with the use of its world-renowned Esports Gaming League platform.

Esports Entertainment Group will also leverage Colts player imagery in the team’s local market, while also promoting tournaments through digital marketing strategies across social media, mobile, email newsletters and online.

The growing popularity of esports was once again evoked in an accompanying statement, with Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for the Indianapolis Colts, Roger VanDerSnick, stating the franchise’s excitement in working with the leading esports provider:

“The popularity of esports has soared since the start of the pandemic, and we are excited to work with Esports Entertainment to operate exciting, action-packed tournaments that we believe will be very popular with Colts fans and a fun way to compete in an entertaining and social environment with gamers throughout our fan base.”Roger VanDerSnick, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Indianapolis Colts

Ohio Hall of Fame & EEG Partnered Up Back in July 2021

Adding to Esports Entertainment Group’s line of recent partnerships is a deal it struck with Ohio’s Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment Company back in July 2021 to bring esports offerings to the Hall of Fame Village location in Canton, Ohio.

Scheduled to open sometime this year in 2022, the state of the art esports gaming complex will be used for occasions ranging from tournaments to running as a practice space for competitive gamers, and is set to feature 80 high-end gaming PCs, an Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and other high-end equipment.

Michael Crawford, president and CEO of Canton’s Hall of Fame Village, stressed the significance of the esports complex for the Ohio Hall of Fame Resort’s Canton, Ohio location:

“Having an EEG-powered esports complex as part of our development on campus adds another compelling opportunity for gaming enthusiasts and guests to engage in virtual environments as well as offering us the ability to draw in fans from all over the world – both in person and virtually – providing us with strategic growth opportunities within our company’s gaming vertical.”
