NorthStar and NBA Will Work Together on Initiatives to Protect League’s Integrity

Sports betting operator NorthStar Gaming, which is the operator of the Canada-facing NorthStar Bets brand, has announced that it has stepped into an exclusive regional partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the Canadian province of Ontario.

As part of the lucrative deal, NorthStar Bets will take on the role of official authorized gaming operator of the NBA in the Canadian province. In return, NorthStar Bets will gain the ability to use official NBA marks and logos in its branding efforts, while users will also be able to enjoy access to real-time NBA data when placing bets.

Finally, another aspect of the deal states that both NorthStar Bets and the NBA will work closely together on a series of specially designed initiatives intended to help protect the integrity of all National Basketball Association (NBA) games.

Deal is Part of NorthStar’s Previously Announced Partnerships

The comprehensive agreement between NorthStar Bets operator NorthStar Gaming and the Canadian division of the National Basketball Association (NBA) does not, however, exist in a vacuum. It is in fact a part of previously announced partnerships from NorthStar meant to provide consumers with greater access to pre-game and live in-game betting opportunities across a number of premium sporting leagues, including the National Hockey League (NHL).

For its own part, NorthStar Gaming founding partner and chief executive Michael Moskowitz gave an overview for users as to what its partnership with the NBA will mean for them exactly, promising fans an authentic betting experience:

“As an authorized gaming operator, NorthStar Gaming will connect our players with official data and stats from the NBA and provide them with an insights-packed user experience. We’re excited to offer current and future NorthStar Bets players with an authentic NBA experience on our platform.”Michael Moskowitz, Founding Partner and Chief Executive, NorthStar Gaming, Press Release

NorthStar Bets’ presence in Ontario is being run through its partnership with Playtech, with the sports betting brand having first gone live in the province earlier this year in 2022, after Ontario launched its highly anticipated legal online gambling market.

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) Entered Ontario in September 2022

Having mostly operated in the United States up until this point, the prominent casino and entertainment resorts company Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment revealed in September 2022 the launch of its own, new online gambling platform in the Canadian province of Ontario.

Thanks to its partnership with Fallsview Casino Resort, Mohegan’s online gaming product in Ontario, which will go by the name of PlayFallsview, will give the opportunity for Ontario-based players to place online wagers on a wealth of different professional sports. Of course, the usual online casino games will also be available.

Kambi Group will be providing the technological know-how behind the platform, with Mohegan and Fallsview partners, such as Pala Interactive and Intelitics, also throwing their weight behind the platform’s launch.

Mohegan’s director of products, Todd Stender, thanked Mohegan’s partners in particular for supporting the launch, noting that live dealer games will also be furnished via its partner Evolution:

“We’re thrilled to be launching playfallsview.com with the help of some of the most powerful technology in the industry. Our partnerships with Pala Interactive and Kambi’s powerful sports betting platform has allowed us to deliver a full suite of the best casino content. We’re excited to be offering the top slot games our customers know and love, in addition to live dealer games via Evolution, and expanded sports wagering content powered by Kambi.”Todd Stender, Director of Products, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE), Press Release

BetMGM Joined Forces with NFL Canada in August 2022

The Canadian province of Ontario’s sports betting market is getting more and more crowded by the month, with American casino and sportsbook giant BetMGM announcing a deal in August 2022 with the National Football League (NFL) in Canada, becoming its official sportsbook partner in the process.

The timing of the deal announcement was fortunate, given that Canada’s first NFL season since the Canadian province of Ontario first launched its regulated betting and iGaming markets kicked off just recently in September 2022.

BetMGM already got a healthy head start, though, being one of the first operators to launch in the province, after it was awarded its license by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) when the market first started running on April 4th, 2022.

BetMGM chief executive Adam Greenblatt expressed strong optimism that the deal would provide the betting giant with many new opportunities in the region:

“Expanding our partnership with the NFL into Canada sets the stage for amazing opportunities as we begin the upcoming football season. We’re already seeing great interest from our Ontario customers and this collaboration truly elevates the BetMGM experience.”
