Tipico Will Unveil Platform in Ohio Once State Launches Sports Betting

World-renowned sports betting operator Tipico and the Ohio-based Major League Soccer team the Columbus Crew have revealed that they have joined forces in a deal which will see the provider become the soccer team’s exclusive sports betting partner, as well as one of its founding-level partners.

As part of the deal, Tipico will also be granted access to marquee crew assets and several brand integrations at the team’s Lower.com Field stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The partnership also includes various forms of digital content and programming for fans and bettors.

Provided that it receives the proper licenses and regulatory approvals, Tipico plans to launch its sports betting platform in Ohio once the state legalizes and regulates the vertical. In terms of progress on that front, Ohio legalized sports betting after the two houses of the state legislature agreed on a version of a bill to do so in December 2021.

Ohio Expected to Launch Sports Betting by January 2023

David Jenkins, who is the chief operating officer of Haslam Sports Group, which owns the Columbus Crew, celebrated the announcement by noting how the team’s partnership with Tipico marks an exciting new stage for sports fans in Ohio:

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with a highly respected global brand and passionate soccer enthusiast in Tipico. As they make their foray into Ohio, our long-term agreement with Tipico represents an exciting development for Crew supporters and sports fans in Central Ohio and throughout the state. Providing a world-class experience for supporters is at the core of what we do and so we look forward to increasing fan engagement opportunities in Columbus and throughout Ohio through this partnership.”David Jenkins, Chief Operating Officer, Haslam Sports Group

When Ohio finally launches its legalized sports betting industry, and once Tipico receives all necessary approvals and regulatory sign-offs, the operator will provide bettors with opportunities to engage with the Columbus Crew through special promotions, giveaways, and other activations.

CEO of Tipico US, Adrian Vella, revealed in his statement that the American Midwest will be playing an integral role in the operator’s continued expansion into the United States throughout 2022:

“We are incredibly excited to team up with The Columbus Crew, a premium brand with championship DNA, to introduce our Tipico sports betting experience to players in the Buckeye state. The midwest will play an important role as we continue our multi-state expansion in 2022, and we could not have asked for a better partner to help us introduce the Tipico brand and our proprietary technology to sports bettors in Ohio and beyond.”Adrian Vella, Chief Executive Officer, Tipico US

As of writing, Ohio is supposed to go live with online and mobile sports betting prior to January 1, 2023, after Governor Mike DeWine set the date as a deadline to launch the state’s now-legalized and soon-to-be-regulated market.

Tipico Active in Indiana and Iowa Thanks to Caesars Entertainment Deal

Back in September 2021, Tipico unveiled the existence of an exclusive deal it signed together with Caesars Entertainment, in which it gained access to the states of Indiana and Iowa’s mobile betting markets.

Tipico is running its sports betting operation in Indiana with the help of a master license currently owned by Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, while in Iowa it will operate on Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf’s license.

Tipico’s deal with Caesars Entertainment is expected to last for the next 10 years, upon which it will almost certainly be renewed for yet another decade. As mentioned, the operator’s expansion into the US sports betting world marches along, with Vice President of Business Development and Strategy Stephen Krombolz specifying Iowa and Indiana as key states:

“This new market access agreement with Caesars Entertainment is another exciting step forward for Tipico as we continue to connect with more US bettors. Indiana and Iowa are key states in our early expansion plans but there is certainly more to come, and we look forward to announcing additional partnerships later this year.”

Esports Entertainment Group & Ohio Hall of Fame Partnered in July 2021

Ohio will soon receive a state of the art esports gaming complex at the Hall of Fame Village in Canton thanks to a partnership between full-stack esports and online gambling company Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) and Ohio’s Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment Company.

EEG will become the Hall of Fame Village’s official esports provider, in turn building a Helix Esports entertainment center within the village used to operate tournaments and competitions, as well as acting as a practice space for competitive gamers.

Esports Entertainment Group’s overall presence in Ohio is also expected to expand as part of the deal. Ohio sports fans should expect esports and fantasy sports betting to become part of the state’s sports betting offerings in the very near future.
