Hacksaw Expands into West Virginia

Provider of online and casino games, Hacksaw Gaming, has revealed its ambitious new plans to pursue a wide-ranging expansion in the US following it receiving a provisional operator license in West Virginia. Hacksaw Gaming Already Pursuing Partnership with Light & Wonder in Q1 2023

The up and coming casino and online gaming provider, Hacksaw Gaming, has just recently stepped out and revealed its plans to pursue a noteworthy expansion in the US after being granted a provisional license in West Virginia.

The provisional operator license, which stands as its first license in the United States, gives the provider the ability to distribute its content through approved and licensed operators in the state’s regulated market.

Hacksaw Gaming clearly isn’t waiting around any longer after receiving provisional approval, explaining that it intends to already launch in the US thanks to a partnership with Light & Wonder in the first quarter of next year (Q1 2023).

Interestingly enough, Hacksaw’s first landing in North America already arrived earlier this year in 2022 after it was awarded an operating license in the Canadian province of Ontario back in May.

The Malta-based provider currently has a presence in over 18 regulated markets around the world, including the Isle of Man where it was granted approval just earlier this year.

Hacksaw’s Nascent US Expansions Comes Shortly After License Approvals in Romania

On the occasion of Hacksaw Gaming being granted provisional approval in the state of West Virginia, Hacksaw chief executive Marcus Cordes evoked the provider’s recent approvals in the Eastern European country of Romania, as well as the Isle of Man, as evidence of the company’s solid recent track record:

“This latest expansion comes after our license approvals in Romania and the Isle of Man earlier in 2022, so we’re finishing the year just as strongly as we started it.”Marcus Corder, Chief Executive, Hacksaw Gaming, Press Release

Cordes went on to claim that Hacksaw Gaming being granted the provisional license in the Mountain State is nothing but proof of the high quality games it is currently putting out:

“Being granted this license is testimony to the quality of our games portfolio and shows just how robust and engaging our content is.”

Internet Vikings Also Stepped into West Virginia in August 2021

West Virginia hasn’t been in gaming industry news for a little while now, with the last major news being the entrance of Stockholm, Sweden-based IT and cloud hosting provider Internet Vikings into the state’s market all the way back in August 2021.

Internet Vikings’ presence in the state brings with it increased iGaming cloud hosting services catered towards licensed gambling operators currently active in the state of West Virginia.

At the time of the announcement, the technology solutions provider already had several other US markets in mind for future expansion, including the likes of Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Louisiana, Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois and Virginia.

The founder of Internet Vikings, Rickard Vikström, expressed the company’s excitement at finally being able to step into the US market:

“We are excited to start our journey into the United States. It’s a huge challenge and wonderful opportunity for us. With this expansion we want to cement our position as a leading igaming hosting provider on a global scale.”Rickard Vikström, Founder, Internet Vikings, Press Release

Leading its strategy in the US market is Elena Kvakova, who at the time believed there was a lot of untapped potential in the market for a company like InternetVikings:

“As we were learning the ins and outs of the gambling hosting regulations and market in the USA, we noticed a few things that could be done better. And to us, a Swedish company, an agile approach and customer focus are at the forefront of everything we do. That is what we are trying to do in the key states right now – set up secure, reliable, cost-effective and fully-formed hosting solutions, so that the new providers that are entering the US market will be able to focus on other things.”

FanDuel and Scientific Games Landed in West Virginia Back in December 2020

Two other major US gambling operators, FanDuel and Scientific Games, have been long active in West Virginia, having struck a partnership back in December 2020 in order to launch FanDuel’s first online sportsbook in the state.

Scientific Games’ renowned scalable betting engine OpenBet powers FanDuel’s sportsbook in the state. It comes as part of the technology solutions provider’s OpenSports package, which in and of itself features software options for online sportsbooks, such as risk and liability management, turnkey frontends, and other notable technology solutions.

The OpenSports package has been utilized by many prominent gambling operators both in the US and worldwide, including names such as Caesars, William Hill, Ladbrokes Coral Group, and Singapore Pools.
