Palmeiras Sign Deal With Dafabet
Brazilian football club Palmeiras has signed a new partnership with online betting and gaming operator Dafabet. The sponsorship deal will include marketing materials in the stadium and on Palmeiras Plus TV. Dafabet is the football club’s first-ever official sports betting partner.

First Betting Sponsor
Brazilian football club Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras has recruited Dafabet as its first ever official sports betting partner. The new deal will be beneficial for both parties, as well as fans of the football club. Palmeiras will promote the betting operator through exposure at its home stadium and online until the end of the year.
Marketing materials will be visible at the club’s Allianz Parque home ground in Perdizes, São Paulo, as well as on interview backdrops, at the club’s football academy and on Palmeiras Plus TV. Fans will also be shown Dafabet adverts online, on the club’s social media channels and official website.
Executive Director of Marketing at Palmeiras, Roberto Trinas explained that the club was happy to sign the deal with Dafabet. As their its betting sponsor, the club is looking forward to reaping the benefits of the sponsorship. In return for its loyalty and exposure of Dafabet, the club will receive all important funds.
Sponsorships from betting operators are amongst the most lucrative for football clubs. With many still trying to overcome the financial difficulties of the pandemic, sponsorship funds are essential for keeping clubs open. Some campaigners oppose sponsorships from gambling firms, but it can be difficult for clubs to justify turning down the money.
The deal is a great one for Dafabet too. Thanks to the exposure from Palmeiras, it will gain brand recognition and trust amongst the club’s loyal fans. The current Copa Libertadores champions are one of Brazil’s most popular clubs, boasting around 18 million fans and 126,000 affiliated fans.
Those fans are set to benefit from a number of activities that are already being organized. Dafabet will launch a Palmeiras fan page especially for the club’s supporters, offering exclusive access to bonuses and promotions. Speaking on behalf of Dafabet, Executive Director of the operator in Brazil, Kasper Trier said that they are hoping to offer fans the best odds and top-notch service and promotions.
Brazil’s Best Club
While Palmeiras is first and foremost an association football team, the club actually takes part in a range of different sports. The football team participates in São Paulo state league, the Campeonato Paulista, in addition to the Brasileirão Série A. The latter comes as the highest stage of Brazil’s football league system.
Palmeiras is Brazil’s most domestically successful club, having won fifteen national competitions since 1942. It has set the record in winning ten Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, alongside four Copa do Brasil and one Copa dos Campeões.
The club has fared well on the international stage too. To its name, it has been awarded the 1951 Copa Rio, the 1998 Copa Mercosul and the Copa Libertadores in 1999 and 2020. The club has won five Interstate titles and twenty-three State Championships. Palmeiras is currently ranked in second place on the CBF ranking, with Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro in first place.
The club has a number of long-standing rivalries, but none as strong as its rivalry with the Corinthians. When the two teams face off, the matches are known as Derby Paulista. Other competitive rivalries held by Palmeiras are against Santos and São Paulo.
It just so happens that Dafabet also has a sponsorship deal arranged with Santos FC, which it agreed in May. Dafabet is keen to push its marketing towards a bigger audience of Latin American sports bettors, and which club better to choose than the one that starred the greatest footballer of all time, Pelé.
Dafabet’s deal with Santos will run right up until the very end of this year. The company’s branding has appeared on Santos’ player shirts, specifically on the shoulder blades. It debuted as the club’s sponsor on May 18th, when the club played in the Libertadores Cup in Bolivia.
Range of Sponsorships
Dafabet now boasts a star-studded portfolio of sponsorship deals with the some of the best football clubs and sporting organizations in the world. The betting and gaming firm has its headquarters in Makati, in the Philippines. Since launching in 2004, it has expanded its operations outside of Asia by sponsoring some of the UK’s top football clubs.
In the past it has sponsored a whole range of clubs, including Aston Villa, Norwich City, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Everton, Celtic and Burnley. Prominent brand ambassadors like TV pundit Alan Shearer have also helped the operator to become a household name.
In August of last year, it announced a two-year partnership with Cádiz FC after the Spanish side was promoted to La Liga for the first time in fourteen years. That marked the first of the operator’s ventures into the Spanish sports betting market. As a shirt sponsor, Dafabet’s branding can be seen on Cádiz’s kits and travel wear.
Earlier this year, in May, Dafabet signed its third agreement to sponsor the World Pool Masters. The competition was broadcast by Sky Sports, DAZN and Matchroom Live. The tournament is run by Matchroom Sports, which went through some corporate restructuring this year. Chairman Barry Hearn OBE stood down, passing responsibility on to his son Eddie Hearn.
Dafabet used to be the main shirt sponsor of English Premier League club Norwich City, until the club swapped to a deal with Asian betting operator BK8 Sports. That deal collapsed after just three days, as fans protested against the operator’s use of sexist marketing materials in other jurisdictions.
