Sportradar Pens NBA Deal with FanDuel

World leader in providing sports betting data to operators Sportradar has announced that it has finalized a long-term deal in which it will supply official data from the National Basketball Association (NBA) over to Flutter Entertainment-owned FanDuel Group. The exclusive and wide-ranging deal will run all the way through to the end of the 2030-31 season.

FanDuel Will also Extend August 2021 Main Data Deal All the Way to September 2031

The major sports betting data supplier Sportradar has stepped out and announced a new long-term deal in which it will provide official data from the National Basketball Association (NBA) to Flutter Entertainment-owned brand FanDuel Group.

The agreement between the two will be quite long lasting, running all the way through to the end of the 2030-31 season, and will encompass a wide range of NBA data and supplementary betting services for FanDuel’s sportsbook platform.

Additionally, FanDuel also said that it would be prolonging its original August 2021 main data deal with Sportradar by a whole decade, until September 2031, with Sportradar remaining as the operator’s preferred data and odds supplier.

The two both specified that they would continue to closely collaborate on improving sports betting experiences to customers. And in a first for both companies, they will be using certain player tracking data to create props and support the growth of same game parlays.

Perhaps most importantly, FanDuel will stand as the first North American operator to utilize Sportradar’s official NBA data in its operations. This comes after the operator struck a significant deal with the NBA first announced in November 2021, as a result of which both FanDuel and DraftKings became official betting partners of the NBA.

Finally, the fine print of the deal reveals that FanDuel will receive access to a range of betting products and betting entertainment tools, such as for example live match trackers and betting widgets.

FanDuel Will also Make Use of Sportradar’s Live Channel Trading (LCT) Product

However it won’t just be FanDuel benefitting from Sportradar’s state of the art sports betting data – all of the operator’s teams located in the United States will be able to enjoy Sportradar’s proprietary Live Channel Trading (LCT) product to support in-play trading.

Speaking on behalf of the data provider, chief executive Carsten Koerl highlighted FanDuel as one of the biggest and most prominent sports betting operators currently active in the nation, citing the partnership as an impetus for it to grow significantly in the market:

“As the largest operator in North America, FanDuel is an exceptional partner, trusting in our products and services to help define their market differentiation. We are thrilled to further expand our relationship with FanDuel in a manner that will evolve and grow the skyrocketing market for sports betting in the US, while continuing to monetize our long-term partnership with the NBA. This deal demonstrates the value of our strategy in delivering products and services on top of data rights.”Carsten Koerl, Chief Executive, Sportradar, Press Release

For its part, FanDuel’s president Christian Genetski stressed the importance of providing a top of the line product to its customers, reaffirming in particular its commitment to the NBA:

“FanDuel’s top priority is to provide a superior product experience to our customers. As we forged this deal, it was critically important that our commitment to NBA basketball and its official data be tied to substantial reinvestment in product innovation and enhancements that will ensure FanDuel retains a market leading NBA offering.”Christian Genetski, President, FanDuel Group, Press Release

Genetski ended by saying FanDuel was very pleased to be extending its relationship with Sportradar, citing the importance of its wide-ranging data capabilities:

“We’re excited to continue our long-term relationship with Sportradar, as their comprehensive data is a critical element to a successful customer experience, and one we now have long-term stability with moving forward.”

Sportradar and Kambi Prolonged Partnership Back in December 2021

Sportradar has been sinking deals left and right for the past year, having secured a five-year extension to its long-term wagering partnership with sports betting supplier Kambi all the way back in December 2021.

As is somewhat par for the course in such deal extensions, Sportradar will remain Kambi’s exclusive supplier of National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Baseball (MLB) and college sports data in the US sports betting market.

Managing director of Sportradar US, Neale Deeley, talked up Sportradar and Kambi’s close relationship, thanking Kambi for its continued commitment moving forward:

“Both Kambi and Sportradar were well-prepared when the US market opened in 2018, and we have worked together closely and diligently to establish our respective market leading positions. We are very pleased that Kambi has shown an unwavering commitment to Sportradar for the next five years and, most importantly, we are delighted to elevate our partnership to the next level for the benefit of our mutual customers.”Neale Deeley, Managing DIrector, Sportradar US, Press Release

FanDuel Expanded its Safer Gambling Efforts in September 2022

Pivoting over to FanDuel, the sports betting operator reaffirmed its commitment to promoting safer gambling in September 2022 with the announcement of a new series of safer gambling initiatives, meant to coincide with the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Responsible Gaming Education Month.

The company even went so far as to establish a business-wide ‘Play Well Day’, inviting its workers to an employee-only event designed to celebrate the role of staff who have helped grow a safer gambling culture at the company.

Craig Corton, FanDuel’s first-ever responsible gambling ambassador, who also chose to extend his relationship with the operator, took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of his advocacy work amongst young adults:

“Our first year together focused on training and identifying ways to better protect customers through advocacy. Moving forward, speaking to young adults about my story and how they can learn from it is something I’m incredibly passionate about. I can’t wait to kick off our campus tour later this month.”
